Daily Inspiration: Meet Csillo Domingue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Csillo Domingue.

Hi Csillo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story began in Brașov, Romania, where I was born before being adopted and brought to Texas by a family who would give me opportunities I never could have imagined. Growing up, I often felt different and struggled to find where I belonged. I faced years of bullying, questions about my identity, and challenges that tested my confidence and sense of self. Along the way, I endured multiple surgeries that left me with significant hearing loss, forcing me to adapt to a world that suddenly sounded different than before.

Through every obstacle, I found refuge in creativity. Music became the language I used when words failed, and photography became a way to see beauty and meaning in both people and moments that others often overlooked. Some of my most difficult experiences taught me the importance of compassion, resilience, and the power of being seen. Over time, I learned that our struggles do not define us-they shape us, strengthen us, and can ultimately become the foundation for helping others.

Today, I use my music and photography to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard. Whether through a song, a photograph, or a conversation, my goal is to remind people that they are not alone in their struggles and that there is beauty, purpose, and hope even in life’s most challenging chapters. My journey has not been a straight path, but every twist, setback, and triumph has helped me become the artist, storyteller, and advocate I am today.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Growing up, I faced challenges related to being adopted and often struggled with feeling like I didn’t fully belong. I experienced years of bullying, which impacted my confidence and self-worth, and I also went through multiple surgeries that resulted in significant hearing loss. There were moments when I questioned my path and whether I could overcome the obstacles in front of me.

As I got older, I faced additional personal challenges that tested my resilience and forced me to reevaluate who I was and who I wanted to become. Through those experiences, I learned the importance of perseverance, self-acceptance, and finding healthy ways to express myself. Music and photography became powerful outlets that helped me process difficult moments and transform them into something meaningful.

Looking back, the struggles were not easy, but they shaped me into the person I am today. They taught me empathy, gave me a deeper appreciation for people’s stories, and inspired me to use my creative work to help others feel seen, heard, and understood.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a musician, photographer, and storyteller who is passionate about using creativity to connect with people and share meaningful stories. Through my original music and photography, I focus on capturing emotions, experiences, and perspectives that often go unseen. Whether I’m composing a song, photographing a portrait, or documenting someone’s journey, my goal is always to create work that makes people feel understood and less alone.

I specialize in storytelling through both music and photography. My photography often highlights authentic moments and individuals whose stories deserve to be seen, while my music explores themes of resilience, hope, and overcoming life’s challenges. Together, these creative outlets allow me to connect with people on a deeper level.

What I’m most proud of is turning difficult experiences into something positive that can inspire and encourage others. Rather than letting challenges define me, I’ve used them to fuel my creativity and passion for helping people feel seen and heard.

What sets me apart is my unique combination of personal experience, empathy, and artistic expression. I don’t just create art-I create connection. Whether through a photograph or a song, I strive to tell stories with honesty, compassion, and authenticity, giving a voice to experiences that are often overlooked and reminding people that every story matters.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t think of risk as being fearless or making reckless decisions. To me, risk is choosing to move forward despite uncertainty. Some of the biggest risks I’ve taken have been deeply personal putting myself out there creatively, sharing my original music, starting my photography business, and allowing others to see parts of my story that I once kept hidden.

There have been times in my life when taking a risk meant stepping away from what was comfortable and familiar in order to grow. Pursuing music and photography professionally required me to believe in myself before I had any guarantees of success. Creating original work and sharing it with the world is always a risk because you’re opening yourself up to criticism and vulnerability. Starting my own photography business was another major leap of faith, especially in a competitive industry where success is never promised.

One of the most significant risks I’ve taken was choosing to embrace my story instead of running from it. For a long time, I worried about being judged for the challenges I had faced. Eventually, I realized that the experiences that made me feel different were also the experiences that gave me a unique perspective and a deeper ability to connect with others.

When I think about risk, I try to ask myself whether the possibility of growth outweighs the possibility of failure. Even when things don’t work out as planned, there is usually something valuable to learn. Some of the most meaningful opportunities in my life have come from moments when I chose courage over certainty. Those experiences have taught me that growth rarely happens inside our comfort zones, and that taking thoughtful risks is often what leads us to discover who we truly are
