Today we’d like to introduce you to Omari Booker.
Hi Omari, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’d like to call my story a small town kid with big time dreams. I grew up in a small town east of Dallas (Kaufman, Tx). This is where majority of my family is and this is what I consider “back home”. Where i’m from , a lot of people don’t live. Sometimes people will judge you for wanting to leave. As much as I love my community , there’s nothing there for me .. at least I thought when I was a teenager.
After graduating from Kaufman i went to attend the university of North Texas. While at UNT I worked for the football program as a student assistant. My whole time there I learned the game of football on a whole other level and networked and built relationships with big time coaches. I was traveling out of state every other week , family would try to catch me on TV on the sidelines on Saturday. As 18-20 year old , some back home would say “I made it”. But i didn’t feel that yet …
I always thought of ways I could give back to my community and how could I help kids who were once in my shoes get out of Kaufman. That’s when the idea of “Stars of Tomorrow” came.
Stars of tomorrow (S.O.T Elite) is a 7on7 organization me and my cousin Kylevon Morrow started in 2024. Giving athletes in Kaufman County to gain exposure and attention that they normally wouldn’t attract. Taking them to tournaments all over the state , taking them on college visits , really advertising and promoting these kids.
A lot of people don’t know where Kaufman is or that it even exists. I like to consider these kids the underdogs WHEREVER we play.
Currently in 2026 we have rapidly grown as an organization. We have took are kids on Division 1 College visits such as Texas Tech , SMU and North Texas. We recently just won the 2026 “The List” 7v7 Texas State Championship. All of our Class of 26 kids signed to play College Football. Our organization has a combined of 50+ offers from colleges.
As far as myself , I landed my first High School coaching job in 2025 at Grapevine Faith. After spending a year there , I received an offer from Colleyville Covenant to serve as the Offensive Coordinator. It’s RARE to see a 21 year old get a coordinator position. I’m still in disbelief myself. Years ago I was just a kid from Kaufman and I sit back and look at everything I achieved and accomplished and I thank the man above everyday.
But … I still have goals. I want to become a head coach one day and I want the organization to be around forever so kids have that opportunity. Because before Stars of Tomorrow … there were no 7on7 organizations in the County.
I’m still very humble but extremely thankful for everything.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. Being young, trying to work full time , run a business and pursue a degree isn’t easy. As well as maintain a personal life. I’ve lost a lot of people along the way because I didn’t have time but .. sometimes you have to make sacrifices to get where you want in life.
And it cost money to make money in the business world .. so the money I make usually goes to my bills and then I invest in my organization.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So i’m the Offensive Coordinator at Colleyville Covenant Hs. As well as Varsity Basketball assistant.
I’ve recently served at Grapevine Faith as a Varsity football assistant , PE teacher and Jr High Football , Basketball and head Jr High Track coach.
I think in both communities I’m know for a young coach who’s determined , hard working and someone who genuinely cares about the youth. Some would say it’s a lot for a 21 year old but this doesn’t feel like “work” .. I have a love for what I do.
I think what separates me from others is my age. It’s rare to see someone in the position i’m in. I’ll be 22 this year and i’ve accomplished so much. I hope all the people my age or younger than me uses my story as motivation. In this world people will tell you “you’re too young for that” … Don’t fall true to that narrative. You can do anything if you believe.
What matters most to you?
Relationship matters a lot to me. Weather it’s relationships with my family and friends or kids I coach or their family’s or the people I work with.
But in today’s world it’s good to network and build relationships because you never know what the next person can do for you.
I’m blessed that god has put me in rooms with some really good people !
