Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Caldwell.
Hi Renee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
At Stork Vision®, it all started with one location in 2004 in North Richland Hills, Texas and a simple mission: to give expectant families a special opportunity to connect with their babies before birth. Over the years, we’ve grown into a family of franchise locations across Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Texas, and Utah, helping thousands of families create unforgettable memories along the way.
Last year, we proudly celebrated our 20th anniversary—a milestone that gave us the opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come and the families we’ve been privileged to serve. Since opening our doors, we have welcomed more than 300,000 babies through the Stork Vision® experience, creating cherished memories for parents, grandparents, siblings, and loved ones.
We’re especially proud that more than 60% of our franchise owners are medical professionals who share our commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and welcoming experience for every family who walks through our doors.
Since day one, we’ve been dedicated to setting the highest standards in prenatal ultrasound imaging. We developed comprehensive safety and quality protocols that are followed consistently at every Stork Vision® location, ensuring families can feel confident in the care they receive.
As we continue to grow, our goal remains the same: to lead the industry in safety, quality, and innovation while making the Stork Vision® experience accessible to expectant families from all backgrounds across the country. Every baby has a story, and we’re honored to help families celebrate the beginning of theirs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building Stork Vision® came with its share of challenges, and every obstacle required thoughtful solutions. When opening ultrasound imaging centers, we had to navigate complex state licensing requirements, meet strict safety and compliance standards, and develop detailed protocols to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for every family. As we expanded into these new markets, we worked closely with individual states to understand and comply with their unique franchising regulations. We worked diligently in recruiting qualified Medical Directors to provide clinical oversight and review scans, ensuring the highest standards of care across all locations.
Supporting new franchise owners brought additional opportunities to problem-solve. We helped them identify ideal locations, negotiate lease agreements, and create businesses positioned for long-term success. Each challenge strengthened our systems and reinforced our commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence. By addressing these complexities head-on, we built a strong foundation that has helped Stork Vision® grow into a trusted leader in prenatal ultrasound imaging.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Stork Vision Ultrasound?
Coming from a background in merchandising and growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I was always inspired by the idea of building something meaningful from the ground up. In 2004, I recognized an opportunity to create a business that would combine innovative technology with an unforgettable experience for expectant families. At the time, prenatal ultrasound imaging outside of a traditional medical setting was still a relatively new concept, but I believed parents would cherish the opportunity to see and bond with their babies before birth. With that vision, I founded Stork Vision® and opened our first location in North Richland Hills, Texas. What began as a single center has grown into a trusted franchise brand, but the heart of the business remains the same today as it was in 2004: creating special moments for families while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and care.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in a suburb of Illinois as the oldest of four children in a family that embraced entrepreneurship and hard work. From an early age, I developed an independent spirit and a desire to create my own path. Those qualities carried into my professional career, where I built a strong foundation in retail marketing and visual merchandising. I spent eight years with Levi Strauss & Co., working across the Dockers®, Levi’s®, and Slates® brands. I later joined Gap Inc., where I served as Central Zone Visual Merchandising Manager, supporting both the Gap and Old Navy brands. Along the way, I met my husband, started a family, and eventually made the move to Texas. Today, I am proud to call the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex home, where my husband and I raised our four children. My experiences as a businesswoman, entrepreneur, wife, and mother have shaped both my personal values and my commitment to building a business that makes a meaningful impact on the families they serve.
