Rising Stars: Meet Lacey Brutschy of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Brutschy.

Hi Lacey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My path into real estate wasn’t exactly a straight line.

I graduated from SMU in 2009 during one of the toughest job markets in recent history. Like a lot of people coming out of college at that time, I quickly learned that the career path I imagined and the opportunities available weren’t always the same thing. I started my professional career managing commercial properties, where I learned the fundamentals of real estate, negotiations, budgeting, problem-solving, and how buildings actually operate behind the scenes.

Over time, I realized what I enjoyed most wasn’t the properties themselves. It was the people. I loved helping clients solve problems, navigate uncertainty, and make informed decisions. That eventually led me into residential real estate.

What started as a solo agent business gradually evolved into something much bigger. Over the last several years, I’ve built a reputation as a trusted advisor for buyers, sellers, investors, and relocation clients moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Today, I lead The Advisory Team at Real Broker and have been fortunate to earn recognition including D Magazine Best Real Estate Agents, Wall Street Journal Top 1% in America, Top 100 Dallas-Fort Worth Agents, and Top 250 Texas Realtors.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest lessons I learned was that being good at real estate isn’t enough. Early in my career, I believed that if I worked hard, treated people well, and delivered great results, the business would naturally follow. While those things are incredibly important, I eventually realized that people can’t hire you if they don’t know you exist.

That realization pushed me far outside my comfort zone. I started creating content on social media, despite having no background in marketing, video production, or being on camera. At first, it felt awkward. Like most people, I worried about what others would think. But I kept showing up, creating content, and sharing what I knew about Dallas, real estate, and relocation.

Over time, social media became one of the most powerful tools in my business. More importantly, it allowed me to connect with people long before they ever needed a Realtor. Today, many of my clients tell me they feel like they already know me before we ever meet. Looking back, putting myself out there was uncomfortable, but it completely changed the trajectory of my career.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I help people buy, sell, and invest in real estate throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but I view my role as much more than helping someone complete a transaction. My goal is to be a trusted advisor who helps clients make informed decisions about one of the largest financial and personal investments of their lives.

While I work with a wide variety of clients, I specialize in relocation. Many of my clients are moving to Dallas from other states and need more than just information about houses. They need guidance on neighborhoods, schools, commutes, lifestyle, culture, and what it’s actually like to live here. Helping people find not just the right home, but the right community, is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

I’m also known for my educational approach to real estate and my social media presence. Over the years, I’ve built an audience of more than 100,000 followers by creating content that helps people better understand Dallas, the housing market, and the home buying and selling process. I believe real estate should be transparent, and I enjoy breaking down complex topics into information people can actually use.

What I’m most proud of isn’t any single award or sales milestone. It’s the trust my clients place in me. The majority of my business today comes from referrals, repeat clients, and people who have followed my content for months or even years before reaching out. To me, that’s the ultimate compliment.

I think what sets me apart is that I’ve never viewed real estate as a sales job. I’ve always viewed it as a service business. My focus is on education, advocacy, and helping clients make the decision that’s right for them, even when that decision doesn’t immediately benefit me. I believe people can tell when you’re genuinely looking out for their best interests, and that philosophy has guided my business from the very beginning.

I’ve also embraced technology and content creation in ways that aren’t always traditional in real estate. Whether it’s social media, video, digital marketing, or relocation resources, I’m constantly looking for better ways to educate clients and help them feel confident throughout the process. Combining that technology with a highly personal, relationship-driven approach has become a big part of who I am and how I do business.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success is never a solo accomplishment. While real estate can sometimes look like an individual business from the outside, there are countless people behind the scenes who have helped shape both my career and who I am as a person.

Gerard Volpe has been one of the most important people in my professional journey. He’s a business partner and a close friend who stood beside me during some incredibly difficult times. There were moments when it felt like we might lose everything we had worked so hard to build, and Gerard never wavered. His loyalty, resilience, and willingness to keep moving forward during uncertain times taught me a lot about perseverance and partnership.

Rosie Hernandez has also played a significant role in my growth. She is an incredibly talented real estate investor with a remarkable eye for design and renovation. Watching her strategically identify opportunities, transform properties, and create value has given me a deeper understanding of real estate investing and the power of thoughtful design. She’s someone I continue to learn from regularly.

I’m also incredibly grateful for Kim Dean and Courtney Benson. They’re two of my closest friends in the industry and have become trusted sounding boards for both business and life. Real estate can be surprisingly isolating at times, and having people you trust enough to share ideas, challenges, frustrations, and opportunities with is invaluable. They’ve celebrated wins with me, helped me navigate obstacles, and constantly encouraged me to think bigger.

My wife deserves more credit than anyone. Entrepreneurship comes with highs and lows, and she’s been my biggest supporter through all of them. Beyond her encouragement, she’s helped me develop the confidence to set boundaries and say “no” when necessary. That’s something I struggled with for a long time. Her support has made me a better business owner, but more importantly, a better person.

And of course, I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to my clients. Every person who trusted me to help them buy, sell, invest, or relocate contributed to building the business I have today. Many have become friends, advocates, and repeat clients over the years. Their trust is something I never take for granted, and it continues to motivate me every day.
