Rising Stars: Meet Zauria Thomas of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zauria Thomas.

Hi Zauria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
How I got started? Honestly, it was a fluke or rather, what I would call divine intervention.
I originally started creating content on TikTok by reviewing romance books. That account was doing fairly well, and I built a genuine community of readers who shared my love for books. Surprisingly, that wasn’t even my main account. My personal account had maybe 100 followers, and I posted only occasionally about curly hair, struggles with faith, or random thoughts.
Everything changed in November 2025. I was going through a difficult season and decided to get out of the house for a matcha. While I was there, I filmed a simple “Drink, Outfit, Book” video. During the recording, I had an interesting interaction with the café behind me. I thought it was funny, posted the video, and moved on with my day.
The next thing I knew, the video had reached millions of views. Thousands of people began following my account, and overnight it felt like I had stepped into a completely new chapter. What started as a spontaneous post turned into opportunities I never could have planned for myself.
Since then, my platform has evolved to include local coffee shop reviews, beauty and lifestyle content, and faith-based encouragement. While the content has changed over time, my goal has remained the same: to create a space where people feel connected, encouraged, and seen.
Looking back, I truly believe God opened doors that I never could have opened on my own. I’m incredibly grateful for His guidance, as well as the support of my family, friends, and community. None of this would have been possible without them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say the journey has been smooth at all. Challenging and fulfilling would be a much better way to describe it.

One of the greatest blessings to come from this season has been developing a genuine relationship with God and discovering the new identity that comes from dying to yourself and allowing Christ to live through you. I try to document that journey honestly on my platforms because people often see only a few seconds of someone’s life online. What may look exciting or effortless on the surface is often a daily battle to renew your mind, trust God, and keep moving forward in faith.

One struggle I’ve faced is validation. I went from feeling virtually invisible online to suddenly having millions of people telling me who they think I am. That kind of attention can be overwhelming, and it can become very easy to place your worth in numbers, opinions, or public perception instead of in who God says you are.

With growth has also come opportunities that, if I’m being honest, I haven’t always felt qualified for. God may say I’m ready, but there are still moments when I feel inadequate, insecure, or even hypocritical. I always dreamed of being a content creator, but I never imagined becoming someone whose words might carry influence. The idea that something I say could encourage someone, or hurt someone, comes with a level of responsibility I never expected.

Those moments continually push me back to God. I’ve had to learn that confidence doesn’t come from believing in myself more; it comes from trusting Him more. The journey hasn’t been easy, but walking through it with God has made all the difference.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wear a lot of different hats, but they all center around the same mission: helping people grow closer to Christ and walk confidently in their purpose.
Professionally, I work for T3 Partnership, a nonprofit organization that connects students to educational opportunities and resources that help them succeed beyond high school. Investing in the next generation and helping students see new possibilities for their future is work that I deeply value.
Outside of my professional role, much of my time is spent serving through ministry, creative work, and community building. I serve in my church through children’s ministry, create faith-based content online, and am currently building WWJB (“Where Would Jesus Be”), a faith-centered brand and community focused on helping people live out their faith in everyday life.
I’m also honored to serve as the Creative Director for DIE2SELF, a Christian clothing brand founded by my best friend. The mission behind the brand is to encourage people to surrender their lives to Christ, die to self, and embrace the new identity found in Him.
More recently, God has opened doors for me to step into teaching and speaking opportunities. I lead a Bible study at HustleBlendz and have had opportunities to share messages of faith, including speaking at a faith-based women’s conference. Those moments have become some of the most meaningful parts of my journey. I never imagined myself standing in front of people with something to say, but I’ve learned that God often calls us beyond what feels comfortable. My goal is never to speak from my own wisdom, but to create space for God to use my story and experiences to encourage others.
If I’m known for anything, I hope it’s authenticity. I don’t try to present myself as someone who has everything figured out. Instead, I share the lessons, struggles, and victories that come with following Christ in real time. Whether I’m talking about purpose, identity, faith, or everyday life, I want people to know they don’t have to be perfect to pursue God.
What I’m most proud of is seeing God use ordinary acts of obedience to impact people’s lives. Whether it’s helping a student through T3, serving in ministry, supporting the vision behind DIE2SELF, building WWJB, leading a Bible study, speaking to a room full of women, or simply sharing a message online, the greatest reward is knowing that someone may leave feeling encouraged, seen, and a little closer to Jesus.
What sets me apart is that I don’t view my career, ministry, creative projects, or platform as separate things. They’re all connected by the same calling. Each one is simply a different avenue for serving people, building community, and pointing others toward Christ.

How do you think about happiness?
Wow, I was not expecting this question.

Honestly, it’s going to sound cliché, but God doesn’t just make me happy, He makes me content. There have been seasons in my life where I thought happiness would come from achieving certain goals, gaining recognition, or reaching the next milestone. What I’ve learned is that true joy comes from knowing Him and trusting Him with wherever He has me.

The people God has placed in my life make me incredibly happy as well. My family, my friends, my church community, and even the community I’ve built online have all played a huge role in shaping who I am. Life is so much sweeter when it’s shared with others. Worship music makes me happy. Seeing people encounter God makes me happy. Children’s faith makes me happy because it’s often so simple, genuine, and trusting. Watching someone step into their purpose or grow in their relationship with Christ is one of my favorite things. I’m also genuinely happy with the direction my life is heading. Not because everything is perfect, but because I can see God’s hand in places I never expected. Looking back, I wouldn’t have written my story this way, but I’m grateful that He did.

And on a much less serious note, my bed makes me very happy. Matcha makes me happy. Cats make me happy. Those are all gifts from God too, and I plan to enjoy them accordingly.
