Lidumar Plazola – Professional Background
Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela.
Moved to Dallas, Texas in 1996.
Has been dancing since approximately age 8, with training and experience focused on Latin American dance styles.
Founded United Dance Academy in Dallas in June 2009 with the vision of bringing diverse dance styles and cultures together in one community. Served as President and lead instructor of the academy, teaching children and adults of all experience levels.
Known for promoting Brazilian Samba, Latin dance, fitness-based dance programs, and multicultural dance education throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
United Dance Academy (UDA) History
United Dance Academy was established in 2009 in Dallas, Texas. Its mission has been to provide high-quality dance education while bringing together people of different cultures through dance. The academy offered a wide variety of classes including:

Professional Bio
Lidumar Plazola is a Venezuelan-born dance entrepreneur, instructor, and founder of United Dance Academy (UDA Samba). Since founding the academy in 2009, she has dedicated her career to promoting Brazilian Samba and multicultural dance education throughout North Texas. With a lifelong passion for dance and a background rooted in Latin rhythms and modern jazz, Lidumar has helped build one of the Dallas area’s most recognized Samba communities, providing classes, performances, and cultural experiences for students and audiences of all ages.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many small businesses, we have faced challenges along the way. Economic fluctuations can impact discretionary spending, which sometimes affects enrollment and event bookings. Another ongoing challenge has been securing and maintaining suitable studio space, as rental costs continue to rise in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Student consistency can also be a challenge, as people’s schedules, family commitments, and life circumstances change over time. However, these experiences have taught us to be adaptable, resilient, and creative in how we serve our community.
Rather than viewing these obstacles as setbacks, we see them as opportunities for growth. Over the years, United Dance Academy has built a strong and supportive community of students, performers, and families who share a passion for dance and culture. The relationships we’ve developed and the positive impact we’ve had on our students have made every challenge worthwhile and continue to inspire us to grow stronger each year.

The quality that has contributed most to my success is perseverance. Building and growing a dance organization for more than 17 years has required dedication, adaptability, and a genuine passion for serving others through dance.
There have been challenges along the way, from economic changes to managing business growth, but I have always remained committed to our mission of creating a positive and welcoming community. I believe success comes from showing up consistently, maintaining high standards, and continuing to move forward even when circumstances are difficult.
Equally important is the ability to build meaningful relationships. UDA Samba has grown not only because of great performances and classes, but because of the strong sense of community we have created. I value every student, performer, client, and supporter who has been part of our journey. That combination of perseverance, passion, and commitment to people has been the foundation of our success.
