Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Moreno.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began in hospitality at a young age. Throughout my career, I had the opportunity to work in multiple hotel departments, including housekeeping, front desk operations, public areas, and food & beverage. While every role taught me valuable lessons, I discovered my true passion in food and beverage, especially in banquets and events, where I learned the importance of service, teamwork, leadership, and attention to detail.
As I gained experience, I developed strong relationships within the industry. Several people who worked closely with me recognized my ability to recruit, lead, and connect talented individuals with opportunities. Their encouragement inspired me to consider something I had never seriously thought about before—starting my own staffing company.
In 2018, with the support and encouragement of those around me, I founded Moreno Staffing LLC. What started as an idea quickly became a mission: helping hospitality professionals find meaningful work while providing businesses with reliable, service-oriented talent. Taking that leap was one of the biggest decisions of my life, but thanks to the confidence others had in me and my willingness to embrace the challenge, Moreno Staffing became a reality.
Today, Moreno Staffing serves hotels, restaurants, convention centers, and event venues throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Beyond building a business, I am passionate about mentoring others, sharing my knowledge of hospitality, and helping people grow professionally and personally.
Looking back, I am grateful for every opportunity, every lesson, and every person who believed in me. My story is proof that sometimes others see potential in us before we see it ourselves, and that with hard work, perseverance, and the courage to take a chance, great things can happen. – Jose Moreno
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth road.
One of the biggest challenges has been managing cash flow. In the staffing industry, payroll has to be met every week, regardless of when clients pay their invoices. There have been times when delayed payments created significant pressure because our employees depend on receiving their paychecks on time.
Another major challenge came during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since Moreno Staffing serves the hospitality industry, we were directly impacted when hotels, restaurants, convention centers, and event venues shut down or drastically reduced operations. Practically overnight, many events were canceled, business slowed dramatically, and the future of the industry became uncertain.
Like many business owners, I also faced the challenge of building credibility from scratch. Earning the trust of clients, recruiting reliable employees, and competing against larger, more established companies required persistence and patience.
Despite these obstacles, every challenge strengthened me as a business owner. The difficult moments taught me how to adapt, stay focused, manage risk, and continue moving forward even when the outcome was uncertain. Looking back, those experiences helped shape Moreno Staffing into a stronger and more resilient company.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Moreno Staffing, we specialize in hospitality staffing solutions for hotels, convention centers, restaurants, country clubs, private events, and luxury residences throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Our expertise includes food and beverage operations, banquet service, bartenders, servers, event staff, and hospitality professionals who help create exceptional guest experiences.
In addition to our traditional staffing services, we have recently expanded into Direct Hire Placement, helping clients identify and secure long-term talent for key positions within their organizations. We are proud to have already placed candidates with several clients and are excited about the growth and opportunities this division brings.
We have also expanded our services into private residential staffing, supporting high-net-worth individuals and families with hospitality professionals for private events and in-home service needs. This allows us to bring the same level of professionalism and service excellence found in luxury hotels directly into private residences.
What I am most proud of is the opportunity to create jobs, develop careers, and build meaningful relationships with both clients and employees. Seeing people grow professionally and helping businesses succeed is one of the most rewarding aspects of what we do.
I believe what sets Moreno Staffing apart is that we truly understand hospitality because we have lived it. Before becoming a business owner, I spent many years working in the industry myself. I understand the expectations of clients because I have worked in their environment, and I understand the challenges employees face because I started my career on the front lines.
Our company is built on relationships, reliability, and service. We strive to be more than a staffing provider—we aim to be a trusted partner. Whether we are staffing a major convention, placing a management-level candidate, or supporting a private event in a luxury residence, our goal remains the same: deliver exceptional service and create value for everyone involved.
At the end of the day, I am most proud of the reputation we have built. Success is not only measured by growth or revenue, but by the trust people place in you and the positive impact you have on their lives and businesses.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t consider myself a reckless risk taker, but I do believe that growth requires stepping into uncertainty.
One of the biggest risks I took was leaving the comfort of working for others and deciding to build something of my own. Starting Moreno Staffing in 2018 meant taking on responsibilities that I had never faced before. There was no guarantee that clients would come, that employees would trust us, or that the business would succeed. Like many entrepreneurs, I had to invest my time, energy, and resources into a vision that existed only in my mind at the beginning.
When I think about risk, I don’t focus on what I might lose. Instead, I focus on understanding the opportunity, preparing as much as possible, and then having the courage to move forward. Some of the best opportunities in my life have come from decisions that initially felt uncomfortable.
More recently, we have continued to take calculated risks by expanding our services into Direct Hire Placement and private residential staffing. Entering new markets always involves uncertainty, but I believe businesses must continue evolving to create value for their clients and remain competitive.
My perspective is simple: if you wait until there is zero risk, you will probably never move forward. The key is not avoiding risk. It is being prepared, learning from experience, and staying adaptable when challenges arise.
