Rising Stars: Meet Oriana Casallas of Chicago

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oriana Casallas.

Hi Oriana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m originally from Venezuela and moved to the U.S. looking for new opportunities and a fresh start. Like a lot of people, I started creating content simply as a hobby and a way to share parts of my life, but over time it became something I genuinely loved.

I started posting about beauty, haircare, and everyday life, and slowly built a community of people who connected with my content because it felt real and relatable. As my audience grew, I started working with brands and discovered that I really enjoyed the creative side of content creation—coming up with ideas, storytelling, filming, and editing.

Today, I balance a full-time corporate job with creating content, which has taught me a lot about consistency, time management, and showing up even when life gets busy. Most recently, I’ve been sharing my moving journey and building a new home, which has been one of the most personal chapters I’ve documented online.

I’m still growing, learning, and figuring things out as I go, but that’s honestly my favorite part. My goal has always been to create content that feels authentic and makes people feel like they’re talking to a friend rather than watching a perfectly curated highlight reel.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been balancing content creation with a full-time job. There were times when I felt exhausted trying to juggle work, content, and everyday life while still showing up consistently online.

I’ve also had to learn patience. Growth didn’t happen overnight, and it’s easy to compare yourself to others on social media. Over time, I’ve learned to focus on consistency, authenticity, and enjoying the process instead of chasing quick results.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a content creator who focuses primarily on beauty, haircare, lifestyle, and everyday life. I create both organic content for my audience and UGC for brands, combining storytelling with content that feels natural and relatable.

What I’m most proud of is building a community that trusts my recommendations and follows along because they genuinely enjoy my content, not because it feels overly polished or salesy. I’ve had the opportunity to work with brands I’ve loved for years, which is something I never imagined when I first started posting.

I think what sets me apart is my authenticity. Whether I’m sharing a product I love, documenting a move, or talking about my daily life, I try to create content that feels like a conversation with a friend. My goal has always been to make people feel seen, inspired, and entertained while keeping things real.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that follower count isn’t everything. Early on, I thought growth was all about numbers, but over time I realized that having an engaged community is far more valuable than having a large audience that doesn’t connect with your content.

Some of my best opportunities have come not because of how many followers I had, but because brands and people connected with my content, creativity, and authenticity. That shift in perspective helped me focus more on creating meaningful content and less on chasing numbers.
