Conversations with Tara Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Williams.

Hi Tara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a single mother of two who wanted a better life, environment, and future for both myself and my children. I began my career in telecommunications project management before transitioning into an IT business analyst role. In late 2016, a family member introduced me to Scrum and Agile, and from that moment, everything changed for me professionally. Since then, I’ve continued to grow, lead, and soar in the tech space.

I’ve also always believed in the importance of creating multiple streams of income, especially in today’s economy, and not settling for relying on just one source of income. That mindset pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone and build businesses beyond my Corporate career in IT Financial Services. Through Doodle breeding, Agile consulting, and partnering with a startup company – FoodieKit LLC, I’ve been able to create additional opportunities for myself and my family while also pursuing passions that align with who I am.

Beyond my career and entrepreneurship journey, I’ve always been passionate about pouring into and encouraging other single mothers — helping them believe in themselves, push past limitations, and realize they are capable of building the life they desire.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not — the road has definitely had its curves, dips, potholes, and U-turns. My journey has been filled with trial and error, learning experiences, and moments where I had to pivot and reinvent myself. Over the years, I’ve explored several business ventures including a virgin hair business, photography, and creating custom craft signs. While some ventures lasted longer than others, each one taught me something valuable about business, resilience, and myself.

One thing that has remained consistent is my passion for creating, building, and serving others. Even through the challenges, I’ve always found ways to turn my passions into opportunities, and every experience helped shape the entrepreneur and leader I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I wear several hats, but at my core, I am a servant leader, Agile professional, entrepreneur, mentor, and mother. Professionally, I specialize in Agile delivery, Scrum leadership, team coaching, and helping organizations improve collaboration, efficiency, and outcomes. I am known for building strong relationships, developing people, and creating environments where teams can thrive and perform at their best.

Outside of my corporate career, I am passionate about entrepreneurship and creating opportunities. I have built multiple income streams through Doodle breeding, consulting, photography and partnering with startup ventures – FoodieKit LLC. I believe financial independence comes from being willing to learn, adapt, and create value in different ways.

What I am most proud of is the life I’ve built for my children and myself. As a single mother, I refused to let my circumstances define my future. Instead, I used every challenge as motivation to grow, lead, and create opportunities not only for my family but also for others around me.

What sets me apart is my ability to blend leadership, business, and service. Whether I’m coaching a Scrum team, mentoring a single mother, supporting my church community, or partnering with startups – FoodieKit LLC, I lead with authenticity, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others succeed. People know me as someone who not only talks about growth and community but actively invests in both.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
One piece of advice I would give anyone just starting out is to believe in yourself, even when others don’t. People will often place their own limitations, fears, and perceptions on you, but you cannot allow someone else’s opinion to become your reality. Stay focused on your purpose and trust the path God has placed before you.

If there’s one thing I wish I knew earlier, it’s that not everyone will understand your vision—and that’s okay. You don’t need everyone’s approval to pursue what God has called you to do. Some of the biggest opportunities in my life came when I stopped worrying about what others thought and started walking confidently in my purpose.

My life has been guided by Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” That scripture has done more than change my life; it reminds me why God created me. Through every challenge, career change, business venture, and season of growth, it has been a constant reminder that my journey has purpose.

Trust God, trust yourself, stay resilient, and keep moving forward. The road may not always be easy, but when you walk in your purpose, every step has meaning.
