Conversations with Diamond Fornosov

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Fornosov.

Hi Diamond, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Chicago, but I spent most of my childhood in Ukraine. Growing up, life was very unstable. My family struggled financially, and home wasn’t always a safe place. I experienced emotional abuse, witnessed physical abuse involving my sister, and there were periods when my mom’s mental health challenges led to hospitalizations. Because of that, I sometimes lived with relatives and learned to adapt to difficult situations at a very young age.

As a child, I often felt trapped by my circumstances. I was bullied, I struggled with feelings of hopelessness, and more than anything, I wanted the chance to be happy and free. The thing that kept me going was the hope that one day I would move to the United States.

When I was 11 years old, that opportunity finally came. I moved to Texas, where I’ve now lived for about 12 years. While it was exciting, it was also one of the hardest transitions of my life. I had to leave behind everything and everyone I knew and start over in a completely different country.
And lived with my new stepmom and she become one of the most important people in my life. She helped me adjust to a new country, a new culture, and a completely different way of living. She was patient, supportive, and always there when I needed guidance. Looking back, she felt like an angel who came into my life exactly when I needed one.

The adjustment wasn’t easy. There were so many things I had to learn that many people take for granted. I had to relearn how to navigate daily life, adapt to a new culture, improve my English, and even learn basic things like swimming and riding a bike because I had never been taught before. Looking back, it truly felt like starting life from the beginning.

Even though it was difficult, those experiences taught me resilience and adaptability. I learned how to keep moving forward even when I felt out of place or unsure of myself.
When I was 15, she passed away from cancer. Losing her was one of the hardest experiences of my life. She had been such a positive force in my life and someone I looked up to deeply. Even though she isn’t here today, the kindness, strength, and encouragement she gave me continue to shape who I am.

When I got older, I wasn’t exactly sure what career I wanted, but I always felt like I was meant to do something creative. I went to college because it seemed like the expected path, but I eventually realized my major wasn’t right for me and that I was pursuing it more because it was what others expected than what I genuinely wanted.

I started posting on social media while working different jobs and trying to figure out where I fit. At 21, I flew by myself to my first influencer event in New York City. I had no idea what to expect, but the moment I got there, I felt like I belonged. Being surrounded by creators, brands, influencers, and industry professionals felt like stepping into a world I had always imagined but never knew was actually possible.

That experience changed everything. It gave me confidence to pursue content creation more seriously and opened my eyes to opportunities in entertainment, modeling, acting, and media.

Since then, I’ve attended creator events, participated in collaborations, worked with brands, attended my first film festival, and continued building my presence online. I’m still early in my journey and haven’t achieved everything I want to achieve yet, but every step has reinforced that I’m moving in the right direction.

One thing I’ve learned is that not everyone will understand your vision. Many people around me didn’t understand why I wanted to pursue a creative path, so I often kept my goals to myself. But once I started sharing my work online, I realized that strangers often supported me more than people I knew personally. Complete strangers encouraged me, followed my journey, and believed in me before many people close to me did. That taught me to trust myself and continue pursuing my goals even when others couldn’t see what I saw.

Today, I have multiple interests, including content creation, modeling, acting, and entertainment. I don’t want to limit myself to one path because I genuinely enjoy exploring different creative opportunities. My dream is to build a career where work feels meaningful and exciting rather than something I constantly want a break from.

Everything I do is for the younger version of myself—the little girl who dreamed of a better future and believed there was something more waiting for her. My story is ultimately about resilience, hope, and having the courage to create your own path, even when it looks different from what others expect.

I’m still not where I want to be yet, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I know this is only the beginning.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the biggest obstacles in my journey have been dealing with doubt, criticism, and uncertainty while trying to build a creative career.

When I started talking about pursuing content creation, modeling, acting, and entertainment, many people didn’t understand it. Some told me it wasn’t realistic, that I should choose something more traditional, or that I was wasting my time. Hearing those things, especially from people close to me, was difficult and sometimes made me question mysef so I would choose not to tell anything.

I’ve also had to deal with a lot of judgment and negativity. Once you put yourself online, you open yourself up to criticism from both strangers and people you know. I’ve received negative comments, been judged for my goals, and had people make assumptions about me without knowing my story. Learning not to let those opinions define me has been one of the hardest but most important lessons.

Another challenge was simply figuring things out on my own. There wasn’t a clear roadmap for the career I wanted. I had multiple interests and passions, but I didn’t always know how to turn them into opportunities. One of my biggest struggles was knowing what content to post, how to find my voice, and how to create content that people would connect with. There were times when I felt stuck, unsure if I was moving in the right direction.

I also struggled with growth and opportunities. There were periods where I wasn’t getting many opportunities, wasn’t growing as quickly as I hoped, and felt like I was putting in effort without seeing immediate results. Like many creators, I spent a lot of time trying to understand how social media works, how to reach more people, and what makes content successful. Sometimes videos I worked on wouldn’t perform well, which could be discouraging.

Financial challenges were also part of the journey. Building a creative career takes time, and I often had to balance pursuing my goals with working jobs.

On top of all that, I had to overcome the self-doubt that comes from growing up in difficult circumstances. When you’ve spent years being told what you can’t do, sometimes the hardest person to convince is yourself.

Looking back, every obstacle taught me something. The criticism taught me confidence. The uncertainty taught me adaptability. The lack of opportunities taught me persistence. And the setbacks taught me resilience. Those challenges didn’t stop me they helped shape me into someone who keeps going even when the path isn’t clear.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently work a regular job while building my presence as a content creator and UGC creator on the side. I’m passionate about social media, entertainment, events, fashion, modeling, acting, and constantly exploring new opportunities within those spaces.

What makes my content different is that I don’t really fit into one specific niche and that’s intentional. I’ve always struggled with the idea of limiting myself to one category because it doesn’t feel authentic to who I am. Instead, my content is centered around my life, experiences, interests, and journey. Whether I’m attending events, sharing experiences, creating lifestyle content, documenting opportunities, or trying something new, my audience follows me because of who I am rather than one specific topic.

In many ways, my niche is me.

I’m known for being authentic and sharing my real experiences. I don’t try to create a perfect image or fit into a box. I believe people connect most with honesty, personality, and genuine stories, and that’s what I strive to bring to my content.

What I’m most proud of is having the courage to pursue my own path despite the challenges I’ve faced. Throughout my life, I’ve experienced instability, loss, self-doubt, and criticism from people who didn’t always understand my goals. I’ve also had people tell me that pursuing creative work wasn’t realistic. Instead of letting that stop me, I continued putting myself out there, attending events, building connections, creating content, and chasing opportunities.

I’m especially proud of the confidence I’ve developed over time. As someone who was bullied growing up and often felt afraid to fully express herself, being able to show up online as my authentic self is something I never take for granted. Content creation has helped me find my voice and become comfortable sharing who I am with the world.

What sets me apart is my story, my perspective, and my authenticity. I was born in Chicago, spent most of my childhood in Ukraine, and moved to Texas at 11 years old to start over in a completely new country. Those experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of staying true to myself.

I don’t create content based on who I think people want me to be I create content as myself. My background, experiences, and willingness to follow my own path have shaped the creator I am today. While many people focus on fitting into a niche, I focus on building a genuine connection with my audience. I believe that authenticity is my greatest strength, and that’s what truly sets me apart.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without the people who have supported me along the way.

First and foremost, my friends deserve a lot of credit, especially my best friend Judy. We’ve been friends for about eight years, and throughout that time she has always believed in me, encouraged me, and supported my goals no matter what. Even during moments when I doubted myself or when other people questioned my dreams, she never did. Having someone who consistently believes in you can make a huge difference, and I’m incredibly grateful for her friendship and support.

My sister also deserves a lot of credit. We’ve been through many difficult experiences together, and her support, understanding, and encouragement have meant a lot to me throughout my journey.

I also want to recognize my followers and online community. Many of them have supported me & encouraged me to keep creating, engaged with my content, and celebrated my milestones with me. One of the most surprising things I’ve learned is that sometimes complete strangers can have a huge impact on your confidence and motivation. Their support has reminded me that what I create matters and has inspired me to keep going even during challenging periods.

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my stepmom. When I moved to Texas from Ukraine at 11 years old, she helped me adjust to an entirely new life. She supported me, guided me, and helped me build confidence during a time when everything felt unfamiliar. Although she passed away from cancer when I was 15, the love, encouragement, and belief she gave me continue to influence who I am today.

While my journey has required a lot of personal determination, I’ve been fortunate to have people who believed in me when I needed it most. Their support has played a significant role in helping me become the person I am today.
