Meet Shanae Ammons of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanae Ammons.

Hi Shanae, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been passionate about helping people reach their potential. I believe we are far more capable than we think we are. Our minds are powerful, but so is our body, and when we come into alignment in those areas, we can achieve great things and positively impact those around us. I grew up in an active household playing basketball and golf, going on to play collegiate golf for four years. Those things combined led me to pursue my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Science Center. Within a few years, I knew that I had a chance to make a real difference, and I wanted to pursue excellence in my profession, leading me to obtain my Fellowship in orthopedic manual therapy (FAAOMPT) that allows me to specialize in treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. My heart for people has led me to WLF Club (wellness, lifestyle, freedom), that I believe allows me to give each patient the attention and care they deserve. It aligns with my belief of helping people achieve overall health and wellness, to promote the lifestyle that supports it, so that they can have the freedom to say yes to whatever life throws at them (fitness goals, golf or hiking trips, playing with grandkids, or feeling like your 20 years younger because you’re giving your body the chance to perform/age the way it was intended.)

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with most things in life, the road hasn’t always been easy. 10 years worth of school, working full time in the clinic while trying to obtain my fellowship hours, and balancing my own health and wellness has been a new level of training discipline and time management. I understand what it’s like to be limited in time and trying to give my all in family, career, and social life. I’ve also experienced the challenges that come with fighting the traditional healthcare model where there’s poor communication between providers, limitations on insurance reimbursement and dictation on what is or is not covered with insurance provided care, having to battle the tug of war of business trying to make money and me trying to provide the best care while trying to juggling multiple patients at one time. Though my training has provided me expertise and experience in handling those challenges, they are nonetheless challenges, that also played a role in leading me to WLF which has provided me the personal and professional support to be the best version of myself in work and outside of work while having the peace of mind and the opportunities to provide the care and treatment that the patient needs that day – and sometimes that’s just time and 1:1 attention – and sometimes that is just time allotted to get out and give back to the community with workshops, pop ups, or simply participation in local events.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy with a Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Therapy. I have a Dry Needling Certification and am specialized in treating golfers, specifically in DFW, being TPI (Titleist performance institute) Medical Certified. My fellowship training puts me in the top 1-3% of all PT’s who have gone on to obtain the highest level of clinical education – I like to say that there may be 10% of people who may be a complex case or they have not responded to traditional chiropractic or physical therapy – those are my bread and butter and it allows me the skillset to serve those clientele who may have not had success elsewhere. I also see primarily athletes or active adults who don’t want to settle for average or use aging as an excuse. I aim to treat everyone like they were my family – whether that’s my brother, my dad, best friend, my grandma, I’m invested in your health as much as you are. My workplace is also very unique and special as we aim to be the leaders of health and wellness in Fort Worth – I work at a chiropractic/rehab facility that also offers a health, wellness, and longevity center. We have medical oversight on staff who performs blood work, hormone testing, metabolic testing, longevity assessments, IV therapy, peptides, and a biohacking gym (ARX, Vasper, O2 therapy) with recovery tools (sauna, cold plunge, normatec, PEMF, red light) that is ideal for time constrained professionals who still want to value their health and wellness and continue to perform outside of the office.
