Community Highlights: Meet Jen Neitzel of Marketing4Notaries

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Neitzel.

Hi Jen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into the notary industry began in 2013 when I became a Texas Notary Public while working in the mortgage industry. At the time, my employer asked me to obtain my commission so I could notarize company documents. For the next four years, that’s exactly what I did. I never considered turning my commission into a business. In fact, I barely thought about it at all.

Everything changed in 2017 when I was unexpectedly laid off from my mortgage position. Like many people facing a career crossroads, I had to decide whether to find another corporate job or take a chance on myself. Looking back, that layoff was one of the best things that ever happened to me.

During my years in the mortgage industry, I had hired mobile notaries regularly and often found myself thinking the service could be delivered with a higher level of professionalism, communication, and overall client experience. When I found myself unemployed, I realized I already had the foundation for a business sitting right in front of me, my notary commission.

Rather than return to corporate America, I launched my own mobile notary business. What started as a way to create income quickly became a passion. I discovered that success wasn’t just about notarizing documents. It was about building relationships, creating trust, and showing up consistently for clients and referral partners.

As I built my mobile notary business, I discovered that the biggest challenge for most notaries wasn’t learning how to notarize documents. It was learning how to market themselves, build relationships, and create a sustainable business. I spent years studying networking, relationship marketing, referral development, and business growth strategies, applying what I learned in my own business first.

Along the way, I experienced both personal and professional challenges that shaped who I am today. In 2022, I faced significant health challenges, including a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis and an autoimmune disease. Instead of accepting that as my future, I committed to making major lifestyle changes and ultimately reversed my diabetes. That experience reinforced a lesson I now teach often: circumstances don’t define us; our response to them does.

As my passion for helping others grew, I launched Marketing4Notaries.com, a training and coaching community focused on helping notaries build businesses through authentic relationship marketing. I later co-founded the Certified Notary Trust Delivery Agent (CNTDA) program alongside estate planning specialist Laura Biewer and a team of estate planning attorneys. Together, we created a program that helps notaries expand into estate planning signings while learning how to market themselves professionally and ethically.

Today, I wear many hats: author, speaker, educator, content creator, and business coach. I host one of the longest-running free coaching programs for notaries in the country, speak at industry conferences, and have had the privilege of helping thousands of notaries grow their businesses.

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: relationships build lasting businesses. Technology changes, marketing trends evolve, but genuine human connection never goes out of style. Helping entrepreneurs discover that truth and build businesses they can be proud of is what continues to drive me every day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most entrepreneurs, my path hasn’t been without challenges. One of the biggest turning points came in 2017 when I was laid off from my mortgage industry position. Losing a job is unsettling under any circumstances, but it also forced me to ask myself a difficult question: Did I want to go back to corporate America, or was I willing to bet on myself? Starting a business meant stepping into uncertainty without a guaranteed paycheck, benefits, or a roadmap.

Building credibility in the notary industry was another challenge. When I started focusing on marketing education, many notaries were taught that success came from waiting for signing services to send them work. I believed there was a better way, one built on relationships, networking, visibility, and personal branding. Teaching a different approach sometimes meant pushing against industry norms and skepticism.

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is becoming a published author. Writing a book had been a dream of mine for years, but like many aspiring authors, I spent a long time standing in my own way. Fear, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and a lack of confidence convinced me that I wasn’t qualified to write a book or that no one would want to read it. What I thought would take a few months ultimately became a five-year journey of overcoming the stories I was telling myself. As I continued teaching entrepreneurs and refining the 5 Point Marketing System, I realized the principles weren’t just helping notaries; they were working for service-based mobile businesses across many industries. That realization became the foundation for my book, On The Move: The Relationship-Driven 5 Point Marketing Solution for Mobile Business Success. Publishing the book wasn’t just a business achievement; it was a personal victory. It represents years of growth, perseverance, and proof that sometimes the biggest obstacle standing between us and our dreams is our own belief that we’re not ready. Fortunately, I learned that you don’t have to feel ready to move forward. You just have to take the next step. If you’re tired of chasing leads, fighting algorithms, and wondering where your next client will come from, “On The Move” will teach you how to build a business people remember, trust, and refer.

Beyond business challenges, I’ve spent the last 5 years of my life on a personal healing journey. I grew up in an environment that left me questioning my worth and second-guessing myself. Like many people carrying childhood trauma into adulthood, I became skilled at achieving and performing while quietly battling self-doubt behind the scenes. Over the years, I have done the difficult work of healing, setting boundaries, breaking unhealthy patterns, and learning that my value isn’t determined by someone else’s opinion of me. That journey has made me a stronger entrepreneur, a better wife and mother, and a more compassionate leader. It has also given me the confidence to share my story publicly in hopes that others realize they are capable of creating a different future than the one they were handed.

Health challenges also tested me. In 2022, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and an autoimmune disease. It would have been easy to accept those diagnoses as my future, but I chose to make significant lifestyle changes instead. Through commitment and consistency, I reversed my diabetes and regained control of my health. That experience reinforced something I had already learned through business and personal growth: transformation is possible when you’re willing to do the work.

I’ve also faced the challenges that come with being visible. As a speaker, educator, content creator, and business owner, not everyone will agree with your ideas or support your success. I’ve learned that criticism often comes with leadership. While it isn’t always easy, it has strengthened my confidence and reinforced the importance of staying true to my values.

Perhaps the greatest challenge has been overcoming my own fears and limiting beliefs. Entrepreneurship has a way of exposing every insecurity you have. There were times I questioned myself, my abilities, and whether I was qualified to teach others. Over time, I learned that confidence isn’t something you’re born with; it’s something you build by taking action before you feel ready.

Every obstacle I’ve faced has ultimately become part of my mission. Today, I teach notaries and entrepreneurs that success isn’t about avoiding challenges. It’s about developing the resilience to keep moving forward when challenges inevitably come. If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that our past may shape us, but it doesn’t have to define us.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Marketing4Notaries?
Marketing4Notaries was created to solve a problem I saw over and over again in the notary industry. Most notaries receive training on how to perform a notarization, but very few are taught how to market themselves, build professional relationships, and grow a sustainable business.

At Marketing4Notaries, we teach relationship-based marketing strategies specifically designed for notaries and other mobile service professionals. Our philosophy is simple: relationships build lasting businesses. While many entrepreneurs are chasing algorithms, leads, and quick wins, we focus on helping business owners create genuine connections that lead to long-term referrals and repeat business.

The foundation of our training is the 5 Point Marketing System, a step-by-step framework that helps entrepreneurs clarify their brand, identify ideal referral partners, create meaningful follow-up systems, leverage social media strategically, and build strong networking and referral relationships. The system is practical, repeatable, and designed for real business owners who want sustainable growth rather than temporary spikes in activity.

What sets us apart is that we don’t teach high-pressure sales tactics or one-size-fits-all marketing formulas. Everything we teach has been tested in the real world through my own business and through the experiences of thousands of notaries across the country. We focus on authenticity, consistency, and professionalism because those qualities create trust, and trust creates opportunity.

Beyond our training programs, we provide weekly coaching, educational resources, templates, accountability, and a supportive community where members can learn from one another and celebrate their successes. Many of our members come to us feeling overwhelmed by marketing and leave with a clear plan, greater confidence, and a business strategy they can actually implement.

What I’m most proud of is the impact we’ve had on helping entrepreneurs realize they don’t need to be the loudest person in the room to be successful. They don’t need to become social media influencers or master complicated marketing funnels. They simply need a system that helps them consistently build visibility, credibility, and trust.

At its core, Marketing4Notaries is about helping people stop waiting for opportunities and start creating them. We teach business owners how to become known, remembered, and referred in their communities, because that’s where lasting success is built.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Marketing4Notaries was created to solve a problem I saw over and over again in the notary industry. Most notaries receive training on how to perform a notarization, but very few are taught how to market themselves, build professional relationships, and grow a sustainable business.

At Marketing4Notaries, we teach relationship-based marketing strategies through our proprietary 5 Point Marketing System. Our philosophy is simple: relationships build lasting businesses. While many entrepreneurs are chasing algorithms, leads, and quick wins, we focus on helping business owners create genuine connections that lead to long-term referrals and repeat business.

What makes our approach unique is that the principles we teach aren’t exclusive to notaries. Over the years, I’ve realized that relationship-driven marketing works for virtually every service-based business. Whether you’re a notary, consultant, photographer, coach, real estate professional, home services provider, or another entrepreneur who serves clients directly, the fundamentals are the same: people do business with people they know, like, trust, and remember.

That’s why one of the projects I’m most excited about is the upcoming expansion of our brand into Marketing4MobileBusiness.com, which is scheduled to launch in late 2026. The goal is to take everything we’ve learned helping notaries build successful businesses and make those strategies available to service-based mobile entrepreneurs across multiple industries. It’s a natural evolution of our mission and one that reflects the broader impact relationship marketing can have on small business growth.

Another accomplishment I’m incredibly proud of is co-founding the Certified Notary Trust Delivery Agent (CNTDA) program alongside estate planning specialist Laura Biewer and a team of estate planning attorneys. CNTDA was created to help notaries expand into the estate planning space with confidence, professionalism, and a deeper understanding of the role they play in helping families execute important legal documents. Today, it has become one of the most comprehensive estate planning notary training programs available and has helped notaries across the country elevate their businesses and better serve their communities.

What I’m most proud of, however, isn’t the programs or the brands. It’s the impact. Every day, I have the privilege of hearing from entrepreneurs who have landed new clients, increased their confidence, raised their prices, left jobs they no longer loved, or built businesses that give them more freedom and flexibility. Watching people realize they’re capable of creating opportunities for themselves is what continues to inspire me.

At the end of the day, our mission is simple: help entrepreneurs stop waiting for business to happen and teach them how to build meaningful relationships that create lasting success. Marketing trends will come and go, but genuine human connection never goes out of style.
