Inspiring Conversations with Megan Bahrenburg of Eureka Speech Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Bahrenburg.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a Dallas native, and while life has taken me all over Texas, I was grateful to eventually return home to the North Dallas area. My journey into speech-language pathology began at Baylor University, where I graduated as a University Scholars major. I was honored to be selected as a Fulbright Scholar, which gave me the opportunity to spend a year living and studying in Spain while deepening my fluency in Spanish and immersing myself in a new culture.

After returning to the United States, I earned my master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2011. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with children and families across a variety of settings, including private practices, hospitals, and home health. Each experience has shaped my approach and deepened my passion for helping children communicate with confidence.

My clinical interests include speech sound disorders, language development, and the important connection between language and literacy. I’m certified in LSVT (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment) and I am also an NLA-trained clinician which allows me to better support Gestalt Language Processors.

I founded my practice in 2022 with a simple goal: to provide the kind of individualized, evidence-based care that every child deserves. I believe that being invited into a family’s journey is both a privilege and a responsibility. Whether we’re working on first words, clearer speech, stronger literacy skills, or helping kids find their voice, I’m committed to partnering with families every step of the way to help children reach their full potential.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I originally started my practice while my family and I were living in Houston. Because I had established strong relationships and a solid reputation in the community, my practice grew quickly and gained momentum early on.

One of the biggest challenges came when we made the decision to move back to North Dallas to be closer to family. Although I grew up in this area and spent the first half of my life here, I didn’t have the same professional network or presence that I had built in the Houston area. In many ways, it felt like starting over. Building trust, forming referral relationships, and reestablishing my practice took time and patience.

That experience taught me a great deal about perseverance and the value of genuine relationships. While growth was slower the second time around, it has been incredibly rewarding to build a practice rooted in both my professional expertise and my personal connection to this community. Looking back, the challenge ultimately strengthened my business and reinforced why I do this work in the first place.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Eureka Speech Therapy?
My practice is built around a simple philosophy: every child deserves individualized, evidence-based therapy that addresses not only their current communication challenges but also supports their long-term success. I specialize in pediatric speech and language disorders, with particular expertise in speech sound disorders, language development, and the critical connection between language and literacy.

What sets my practice apart is the depth of experience I bring and the highly personalized approach I take with every family. Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of settings which has given me a broad perspective on child development and communication. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work closely with families to understand each child’s unique strengths, challenges, and goals.

I am especially passionate about helping children develop the foundational language and literacy skills that support success in school and beyond. Communication impacts every aspect of a child’s life—from learning and academics to friendships, confidence, and self-advocacy—and I love helping children discover what they’re capable of when given the right support.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust families place in me. Many of my referrals come from former clients, physicians, educators, and other professionals who have seen the impact of my work firsthand. That trust is something I never take for granted. My goal has always been to provide gold-standard care while creating a warm, supportive environment where children feel successful and families feel empowered.

If there’s one thing I’d want readers to know, it’s that speech therapy is about so much more than producing sounds correctly or meeting developmental milestones. It’s about helping children connect, learn, express themselves, and thrive. I consider it a privilege to partner with families during such an important part of their child’s journey, and I’m committed to providing the expertise, encouragement, and individualized care needed to help each child reach their full potential.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
One thing I’d love for readers to know is that I strive to be a resource for our community, not just for the families I currently serve. Questions about speech, language, literacy, or child development can sometimes feel overwhelming, and it can be difficult to know where to turn for trustworthy information.

I want parents, caregivers, educators, and healthcare providers to know that they’re always welcome to reach out with questions. Whether a child ultimately needs therapy or not, I’m happy to provide guidance, share resources, or help point families in the right direction. My goal is to support children and families however I can and to make expert information more accessible to those who need it.

At the end of the day, I’m passionate about helping children and their families, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to serve and support the community I call home.
