Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Moore Rhodes.
Hi Lynn Moore, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My theatrical career began in my early years studying acting at The Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville, Tennessee.. After a few years of regional theatre and developing my singing skills and songwriting skills, I was fortunate to have several songs recorded by Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner at a young age and other artists in that genre. Although, my passion was in the Jazz genre and the Frank Sinatra era, I was grateful to learn from these masters of music and was invited to be a guest artist on the Porter Wagoner show. After meeting Jordan Rhodes, the iconic Hollywood actor, we began a journey together with a hit production, written by Jordan, Papa The Man, The Myth, The Legend, the life and loves of Ernest Hemingway and I was offered the opportunity to portray the key women in Hemingway’s life as well as write the theme song for the play, “Meet Me In Memory.” Our travels took us to many parts of the United States and eventually a move to Manhattan, New York as more opportunities presented themselves to both of us. A studio in Manhattan is where I crafted my style in the Jazz genre recording such songs, as “I Put A Spell on You,” songs inspired by Nina Simone and my original music. I produced two CD’s of my favorite classics, including Big Band tunes which are available on YOUTUBE. and also on my music website: www.lynnmoorerhodes.com. While in New York, I was hired to be in three television pilots, The Calvin Bacote Story, Flashes and The Working Class Actors as well as several print jobs and appearances on Off Broadway showcases.by Director Anna Katarina. As a teacher of creative writing, I continue to work on music projects and am in rehearsals with a Jazz Guitarist for future engagements.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to developing creative talent can be a challenge when you are waiting for something “big” to happen which is what careers turn on, but with the support of New York teachers, building realistic expectations was helpful. Continuing to study the craft of Acting, Singing and Music were the best choices to keep the struggles at bay.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actress, songwriter, vocalist who has been a member of American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers for more than 20 years. I am most proud of the development of my talents that led me to create more opportunities than I found which is the best advice I could give to anyone. And always be willing to lend your talents for fundraisers for a great cause; I truly believe that is part of our calling as artists.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The Dallas Cowboys and the gorgeous culture there.
