Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaira Gomez.
Hi Zaira, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Zaira, but most people know me as Karina, or Kari for short. I became a licensed esthetician in 2018 and began working in the industry in 2019. Like many people, my journey wasn’t a straight path.
Over the years, I experienced personal challenges, self doubt, and seasons of uncertainty that caused me to step away from esthetics at times. Those experiences strengthened my faith, taught me resilience, and ultimately helped shape the woman I am today.
In late 2024, I found myself facing another difficult season. I was burned out, questioning my future, and unsure if entrepreneurship was still the path I was meant to pursue. I walked away from my business completely, sold my equipment, and accepted a position at a waxing franchise in January 2025. At the time, I truly believed I was closing the chapter on entrepreneurship.
But through prayer and reflection, I realized my passion for serving clients and building something of my own had never gone away. In May 2025, I made the decision to start over completely from scratch and give myself and my business another chance.
When I signed the lease for my storefront in August 2025, I had around 30 clients, no financial safety net, and no experience operating a storefront. What I did have was faith in God, a landlord who saw something in me before I fully saw it in myself, the determination to build a better future for my family, and the courage to take a chance on a dream that felt bigger than my circumstances.
That leap changed my life.
Today, Dulce Aesthetics serves nearly 200 clients and specializes in waxing, intimate skin treatments, and corrective skincare. My goal has always been to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where every client feels comfortable, respected, and cared for.
Looking back, my journey has taught me that success isn’t always about having the perfect plan. Sometimes it’s about trusting God, taking the next step even when you’re afraid, and believing that setbacks don’t have to be the end of your story.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’ve learned a lot through the challenges.
One of the biggest struggles has been balancing entrepreneurship with my relationship and mother of 4. Running a business doesn’t stop when you leave work, and finding a healthy balance between my business and my family is something I’m still learning every day.
Another challenge has been overcoming self doubt. As business owners, we often see everyone else’s success while quietly questioning our own decisions behind the scenes. There were times when I wondered if I was making the right choices or if I was capable of reaching the goals I had set for myself.
Opening my first storefront also came with a steep learning curve. Managing a business, finances, marketing, inventory, and client care all at the same time can feel overwhelming. I’ve had to learn that growth often requires stepping outside of your comfort zone and being willing to learn as you go.
Through it all, my faith has been my foundation. I’ve learned that some of life’s greatest lessons come during the seasons that challenge us the most. Looking back, every obstacle taught me something valuable and helped prepare me for the next step in my journey.
We’ve been impressed with Dulce Aesthetics, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What makes Dulce Aesthetics different is the experience. Yes, I specialize in Brazilian waxing and intimate skin treatments, but what my clients tell me over and over is that they feel comfortable with me.
A lot of people find me through TikTok, and one thing I hear all the time is that they could feel my energy before they ever met me. What you see online is exactly who I am in person. I try to make people laugh, feel comfortable, and know they’re in a judgment free space.
I truly don’t care what a client looks like, their age, their size, or what insecurities they may have. Everyone deserves to feel confident and respected. I have clients in their 20s and clients in their 60s. I have first-time wax clients, plus-size clients, and clients who have spent years feeling insecure about their bodies. My goal is for every person who walks through my door to feel accepted and comfortable.
I focus heavily on education and client comfort because I know how vulnerable these services can feel. I want people to leave not only feeling confident but also feeling like they were genuinely cared for.
At the end of the day, my clients aren’t just appointments on my schedule. I’ve built real relationships with many of them, and I think that’s why so many continue to trust me with their care and refer their friends and family to me.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Honestly, I don’t remember much of my childhood because, as the oldest of three siblings, I grew up pretty quickly and spent a lot of my time helping take care of them. But if I had to choose one favorite memory, it would probably be when my parents bought my brother one of those little pocket motorcycles. My dad put it together, and we spent hours taking turns riding it around the neighborhood with no care in the world. Looking back, I realize it wasn’t really about the motorcycle. It was about all of us spending quality time together as a family the laughs, the excitement, and just enjoying being kids. Those simple moments are the ones I appreciate the most now.
