Hidden Gems: Meet Sarah Leach of Skin Health & Recovery Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Leach.

Hi Sarah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a mom of two and recently made a career change after spending the last four years working as an athletic secretary for Sulphur Springs ISD. While I enjoyed working in education, I found myself drawn to the skincare industry and wanted a career where I could help people feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin.

That passion led me to pursue esthetics, where I discovered a special interest in oncology esthetics. I had no clue this was even a career option until I started Esthetician school. My dad has had cancer the past 5 yrs and it really influenced my decision in Oncology esthetics.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There were many days when I felt stretched thin trying to be the best mom I could be while working full-time and attending esthetics school. I missed family time, spent countless late nights studying, and often found myself wondering if I was making the right decision by stepping away from a career I had built over the last four years.

What kept me going was the vision I had for my future and the example I wanted to set for my children. I wanted them to see that it’s never too late to chase a dream, even when it’s scary and uncertain. There were moments of exhaustion, self-doubt, and sacrifice, but each challenge reminded me why I started this journey. Looking back now, those difficult moments make this accomplishment even more meaningful because I know how much heart, faith, and determination it took to get here.

We’ve been impressed with Skin Health & Recovery Aesthetics , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Skin Health & Recovery Aesthetics was born from my own journey of taking a leap of faith and building a career that truly aligns with my heart. After years of working in education, I realized I wanted to do something that allowed me to make a personal impact on people’s lives. I specialize in corrective skincare and oncology esthetics, and that work holds a special place in my heart. Some people walk into a treatment room struggling with acne, aging concerns, or skin conditions that have affected their confidence for years. Others may be facing the physical and emotional effects of cancer treatment.

What sets my business apart is that my focus begins with the person, not the service. When someone is fighting cancer, they are often known by their diagnosis, treatment plan, or medical appointments. In my treatment room, I want them to be seen as a person first. I want them to have a place where they can rest, be nurtured, and experience a moment of peace. Sometimes the most meaningful part of a facial isn’t the skincare itself…it’s helping someone feel like themselves again.

What I am most proud of is that Skin Health & Recovery Aesthetics was built with a purpose. This isn’t a business I started simply to offer facials. It’s a brand rooted in compassion, education, and service. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to create a space where people could feel safe, cared for, and confident, regardless of what they were going through.

More than anything, I want people to know that when they walk through my door, they are not just another appointment. They are a person with a story, and my mission is to help them feel supported, empowered, and cared for from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve never considered myself a natural risk-taker. In fact, I’ve always valued stability, especially as a mom. That’s why one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken was walking away from a secure career in education to pursue esthetics and entrepreneurship.

For four years, I worked as an athletic secretary, and while it provided stability, I couldn’t ignore the feeling that I was meant to do something different. Choosing to leave a steady paycheck, and start building a business from the ground up was terrifying. There were moments when I questioned whether I was making the right decision, especially knowing that my children were depending on me.

What I’ve learned is that some risks aren’t about being fearless…they’re about believing that the possibility of a better future is worth the uncertainty. I didn’t take this leap because it was easy or guaranteed. I took it because I knew I would regret never trying.

I can honestly say that every sacrifice, late night, and moment of doubt has been worth it. Taking that risk wasn’t just about changing careers; it was about believing in myself and showing my children that it’s okay to chase a dream, even when the path isn’t clear.
