Meet KIMBERLY Nwokorie of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to KIMBERLY Nwokorie.

Hi KIMBERLY, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started off in the space as just a reader. During Covid I had more time on my hand that I ever had. I was a sophomore turned junior in the year of 2020 and I was in school for computer engineering. And if you know anything about computer engineering, it is very time-consuming so the pandemic gave everybody a chance to rest and do things that they never made time to do before. And for me that was definitely reading. I was a part of a community on Twitter that kind of encouraged me to read what used to bring me a lot of joy and that was Percy Jackson. So when I started reading Percy Jackson again and I started getting more bookish videos on TikTok and I realize that nobody looked like me or really had the same sense of humor as me so I decided there was a gap in that and I definitely wanted to feel it and be representation for people who found any similarities in me whether that was a sense of humor or how I physically present to the world. So that was kind of how I got started and within a year I grew my page exponentially made so many connections and Penguin Random House then reached out to me. I had no idea who they were at the time aside from just a publisher, I never knew the capacity they held in the world. So partnering with them opened me up to a whole new world and inside view into publishing and that kind of started my journey and I was a creator on that end, but I still made my own videos so I got to work with so many awesome company and publishers!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think in anything that you’re passionate about, there will always be struggles, whether that’s internally or externally. Mine have thankfully it just been more internal, I don’t necessarily have imposter syndrome, but I get in my head a ton. And I know that comparison is the thief of joy, so I had to unlearn a lot of that behavior within myself and after that, I think the experience has become 10 times more easy when you just allow yourself to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My career thankfully has been provided because of the connections that I have in the book world. But I am currently pursuing my MBA at the University of Texas at Dallas, and I have been fulfilled occasionally in that instance. But I am also an active actress, I’m constantly auditioning that is my main goal in life is to be a part of this world and really immerse myself and all the projects that mean a lot to me. So I’ve been really thankful for all the opportunities that have come my way through just my acting and through my book social media.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Support is everything to me, if anyone ever wants to work with me in any capacity, I have all my emails present in the bios of all my social media accounts. I love collaborating and working with people, and a good way to support me is just to keep up with me, engaged with my content that I push out in any form. I’m pretty present everywhere on social media I’m lacking a little bit on YouTube, but don’t worry that will come more when I graduate!
