Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherly Brack.
Hi Sherly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my Instagram journey in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when so many local businesses were struggling, I wanted to do my small part by helping them gain more exposure through social media.
Back then, I had just 300 followers—mostly family and friends. I simply shared the local restaurants, cafés, and small businesses I visited, hoping my posts would encourage others to support them too.
Fast forward to today, I’m incredibly grateful and blessed to have built a community of over 10,000 followers. What started as a passion for supporting local businesses has grown into something much bigger.
While supporting local will always be at the heart of my content, I’ve also expanded my journey to include travel, lifestyle, fashion, and one of my biggest passions—dancing.
Thank you to everyone who has followed along, supported my journey, and continues to be part of this amazing community. Here’s to discovering more hidden gems, creating meaningful memories, and inspiring others along the way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, the journey hasn’t always been easy.
I’ve faced bumps along the way—from negative comments and online hate to learning that you simply can’t please everyone. And that’s okay.
There were times I put so much pressure on myself. I’d spend hours creating and editing content, only for it not to get the views or engagement I had hoped for. It was discouraging.
I also experienced burnout from accepting too many invitations while balancing a full-time job and managing my health as a kidney transplant recipient. It wasn’t sustainable, which is why I took several breaks throughout my six years as a content creator.
Whenever I felt overwhelmed, I reminded myself why I started in the first place.
It was never about the numbers.
It was about sharing places I genuinely loved, supporting local businesses, and creating content that brought me joy.
Now, every time I pick up my camera, I choose to create from the heart. If my content helps even one person discover a new place, support a local business, or simply smile, then that’s already a win for me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Outside of content creation, I work full-time for one of Canada’s largest airlines.
While I can’t share too much about my role because it’s confidential, I can say that I work in the operations department—a fast-paced environment where no two days are ever the same.
If you ask my coworkers to describe me, they’d probably say I’m friendly, patient, always smiling, and known for my unique laugh.
One of the compliments I treasure most is being known as someone who’s always willing to help. My outgoing personality helps people feel comfortable opening up to me, and I strive to create a space where others feel welcomed, heard, and safe.
Whether I’m at work or creating content, my goal is the same: to make a positive impact, connect with people, and leave them feeling a little happier than before.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One thing that always surprises people is that I have an adult daughter—she’s 24 years old!
Most people are shocked because they think I look much younger than my age. I always take it as a compliment and have a little laugh whenever I see their reaction.
Being a mom has been one of the greatest blessings in my life. It’s shaped who I am, taught me resilience, and reminds me every day of what truly matters.
