Inspiring Conversations with Dave Fulson of Safari Classics Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Fulson.

Hi Dave, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am currently 66 years of age. Since my first job at 16, I have been involved professionally in the Hunting\Shooting\ Production and Conservation space. I’m a lifer. I am a Hunter\Conservationist who believes in, and globally promotes the Conservation Through Hunting narrative.
I currently Produce three Hunting shows SCI’s Tracks Across Africa ( 21 year on Outdoor Channel, Hornady’s Dark and Dangerous ( 15 years on Sportsman Channel and Trijicon’s World Of Sports Afield ( 14 yrs on Sportsman Channel).

Our Company SAFARI CLASSICS PRODUCTIONS most recent project is a digital, video driven PodCast called Safari Classics TV. Since late August our META viewer numbers are approaching 15 million!

I have hunted on four Continents, with much of my hunting and filming career spent in Africa, where we have hunted and filmed in all the major game fields open to legalized sport hunting.
We have won many major production awards as a company and I have won over twenty state and national writing awards.
My home is in Ft. Worth where I share my life with my wife Heather and more dogs than I will admit to!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No roads to longtime success are smooth. Markets, partnerships, regulations, sponsorships and employee retention are all situations that are fluid. The ability to adapt and re-set on all the above has certainly been a part of our companies success and longevity.

Honesty, hard work and practicing The Golden Rule are all pathways to both financial and personal success. Our employees are such a huge part of our success and we make sure they are recognized for their loyalty.

As in every business, you will eventually deal with some bad actors. I’v seen my share. You learn to deal with them, remove them from your circle of trust, and avoid similar people in the future. It works on both business and personal relationships!

We try to NEVER let a competitor outwork us, and our customers and viewers appreciate that.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Safari Classics Productions?
We specialize in Marketing, Messaging and Video Production in the specialized Hunting\Shooting\ and Conservation arena.
We have been in business for 25 years and I have two partners and a world class team of videographers and editors.
We see ourselves a ‘professional story tellers’ and our industry has unlimited and interesting stories to tell!

Although we are not award driven, we have earned top honors in many categories of our industries various Production Award programs. But happy customers and partners are far more important to us…awards are just what comes from doing that job well.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
If you want to spend your life working for yourself, trust me, your a RISK TAKER! I have always wanted to design my own life, and part of that life, a huge part in truth, is the business I have created myself, or partnered with others to create.

I tell people all the time who say ” Dave, I wish I just worked for myself” that you have never had as many bosses as someone that “works for him or herself.” Every customer, network, sponsor and so on IS YOUR BOSS! And that is the truth.

Your like a lion in Africa, you only eat what you can catch and kill yourself. And lazy lions tend to starve to death!

Life is risk. You cannot control parts of it, other things you can. I am a very headstrong man by nature, but I believe in GOD and I pray daily for his help, guidance and support to keep me, and my dreams on the right track. No one is an island.
