Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana.
Hi Ana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
KOCOROKO Munchies’ journey began in January 2022. I had started noticing the years of hard work in my father’s eyes. He looked tired after spending most of his life working in the construction industry, enduring extreme heat and cold.
One day, while driving through Mabank, I saw a building with a “For Lease” sign. My spouse, who is now in heaven, and I asked for information about it. I told him that I wanted to create a place where my dad could cook, share his passion for food, and no longer have to work in harsh weather conditions.
As the months and years passed, we gained new customers and built lasting relationships. We offer a wide variety of authentic Mexican snacks, refreshing drinks, and unique treats made to satisfy every craving. From fresh fruit creations and aguas frescas to flavorful street snacks and specialty Items. About a year after opening, we decided to add birria to our menu. At that time, no restaurants in our town were selling birria. My father and I worked together to create our own recipe, and to this day, we have remained consistent and true to it.
Over the years, we became more involved in our community, and I began focusing more on social media. This little place has been blessed with some of the most amazing customers anyone could ask for.
In December 2025, business slowed down significantly, and my father and I made the difficult decision to close because we simply weren’t making enough to stay open. However, after sharing the news on our page, the community responded with overwhelming support. Because of that love and encouragement, we chose to stay. I also made a commitment to become more active online and share more of our story and daily life.
Six months later, we are still here. We’ve gone viral in our area, and we are incredibly grateful for every customer who has supported us along the way. We kept our faith, trusted God’s plan, and continued moving forward.
Without the support of our community and loyal customers, KOCOROKO Munchies would not be where it is today. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us, supporting our dream, and being part of our journey. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our journey has not been easy. We opened our doors without truly knowing what we were doing, and I learned as I went. Every challenge became a lesson, and every mistake became an opportunity to grow.
One of our biggest struggles has been the rising cost of food. Like many small businesses, we’ve had to adapt, make difficult decisions, and find ways to continue serving our community without compromising the quality and consistency that our customers have come to know and love.
Despite the hardships, we have remained committed to our vision and to the people who support us. Through faith, perseverance, and the encouragement of our community, we continue to move forward one day at a time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Kocoroko Munchies?
KOCOROKO Munchies is a family-owned small business that was founded in 2022 with a simple mission: to create a place where great food, community, and family come together. What started as a dream to give my father the opportunity to share his passion for cooking has grown into a beloved local business that serves customers from all over our area.
We are best known for our authentic, homemade birria recipes, which my father and I created together when there were no other local restaurants offering birria in our town. Consistency and quality have always been important to us, and we continue to prepare our food with the same recipes and passion that built our reputation from the beginning.
Beyond our food, we pride ourselves on being deeply involved in our community. We support local events, partner with churches and organizations, volunteer our time, and strive to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels like family. Our customers are more than customers—they are part of our journey.
What sets KOCOROKO Munchies apart is that we are truly built on faith, family, and perseverance. We learned as we went, overcame challenges, and continued moving forward even during difficult times. The overwhelming support from our community in late 2025 reminded us why we started and inspired us to keep going.
The thing I am most proud of is our brand’s authenticity. We have remained true to who we are, stayed consistent with our recipes, and never lost sight of the values that inspired us in the first place. Every meal we serve represents hard work, sacrifice, and love.
We want readers to know that KOCOROKO Munchies is more than a restaurant—it is a family story, a testament to resilience, and a reflection of what can happen when faith and community come together. We are incredibly grateful for every person who has supported us, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community for many years to come.
What were you like growing up?
I faced several challenges as a teenager and became a mother to my first beautiful daughter at just 17 years old. From a young age, I have always worked hard and dreamed of one day being my own boss. Today, I have experienced both the blessings and the realities that come with owning a business, and it has taught me resilience, patience, and perseverance.
I was blessed to grow up in a loving home with both of my parents, whom I deeply love and respect. They instilled in me the values of hard work, faith, and determination. I have always been strong-headed and determined to achieve my goals, even when the path was difficult. That same strength and determination continue to guide me as a mother, business owner, and member of my community.
