Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Raschke.
Nick, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been entrepreneurial. Even as a kid, I was constantly looking for ways to build something. I loved skateboarding and paintball, so naturally my first “business” was a backyard skatepark that my friends and I built when I was really young. We’d charge neighborhood kids a small fee to skate, then reinvest the money into building new ramps. It didn’t last long before the neighbors shut us down, but it taught me an early lesson about entrepreneurship and failure.
In high school, I started repairing paintball equipment to earn money for my own gear. That eventually turned into a much bigger business in college, where I built one of the largest e-commerce marketplaces for paintball equipment out of my dorm room. This was before dropshipping became mainstream. I partnered directly with manufacturers, built the online storefront, and scaled the business into six figures while still in school. Eventually, I sold the company after recognizing the market was beginning to decline as consumer interests shifted toward gaming.
After that exit, I wanted to immerse myself in startups and digital marketing. I joined an early-stage company in Chicago and helped grow revenue from roughly $150,000 to over $1 million in about a year. That experience led me into the agency world, where I had the opportunity to work with Fortune 500 brands through advertising on Meta, Google, and Pinterest.
That’s where I got the idea to build my own marketing agency. I started and failed at one with a small group of friends. Then I had reach out to someone I had worked with back in college to help me on a project. He showed me the marketing and ecommerce business he was starting. I told him I think I’m your missing piece and poof Prolific Media was born. That company eventually became DOE Media, where I’m Co-Founder and COO. Today, we’ve helped generate billions in revenue for brands, managed hundreds of millions in advertising spend, and have had the opportunity to work with companies ranging from fast-growing startups to some of the largest consumer brands in the world. DOE now has 3 offices in Dallas, Chicago and Miami.
What motivates me hasn’t really changed since those early days. I’ve always loved building businesses, solving problems, and figuring out how to generate growth. Whether it was charging fifty cents to skate in my backyard, running an e-commerce company from a dorm room, or helping brands scale through data-driven marketing, it’s always been about creating something valuable.
I’m also a big believer that great marketing isn’t about chasing vanity metrics. it’s about understanding the numbers, making smart decisions, and building businesses that last. That’s the philosophy we’ve tried to build into DOE Media, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to watch both our clients and our team grow alongside it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Entrepreneurship is full of tough times. As soon as you are up and feeling good about things, boom, a new problem. There are tough times and there are great times. Through both I remind myself that this too shall pass.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
DOE is a full funnel marketing platform that helps consumer brands grow profitably through paid media, creative strategy, and lifecycle marketing. We partner with brands that are looking for more than just an agency they want a strategic growth partner that’s accountable for real business results.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being true to yourself and understanding what you are great at and what you are not great at.
