Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadin Kharchenko.
Nadin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Just before turning 40, I moved to the United States with my family and suddenly found myself starting over. A new country, a new language, a new career—and the opportunity to build a life that truly reflected who I wanted to become. Before that, I had a technical background and worked in a completely different field. Like many immigrants, I had to rebuild my professional life almost from scratch.
As I was building my life here, I gradually found myself taking on more and more roles. Like many women, I was balancing work, family, building my own business, and the responsibilities of everyday life. The more I experienced that myself, the more I realized how easy it is to put yourself last—and how important it is to make time for yourself, even if it’s just for a couple of hours.
After earning my Texas nail technician license, I realized it was only the beginning of my journey. I continued investing in advanced education and also studied personal styling. I’ve always been drawn to elegance, balance, and the idea that the smallest details can completely transform an overall look. Every new course, every technique I master, and every new experience continue to shape both my skills and the way I see beauty.
Studying personal styling completely changed the way I approach nails. I stopped seeing a manicure as simply a beauty service. To me, beautiful nails are the finishing touch of a woman’s overall image. Like any thoughtful detail, they should complete the look—not compete with it.
Over time, I realized that no woman feels the same every day. Our moods, routines, and even the way we want to express ourselves constantly change. But beautiful nails stay with us for weeks. That’s why I believe they should feel timeless—equally fitting for a business meeting, a family dinner, a vacation, or an ordinary Tuesday.
That belief inspired me to create my own private studio, Nail Therapy Lounge. I didn’t want to build just another nail salon. I wanted to create the kind of place I would want to visit myself—a quiet, peaceful, one-on-one space where a woman can step away from the noise of everyday life, slow down, and enjoy a moment that’s entirely her own.
Today, I work with every client individually, taking into account not only her nails, but also her lifestyle, daily routine, and personal style. My goal is simple: when a client walks out of my studio, I want her to know that whatever the next few weeks bring—work, travel, family events, or everyday life—her beautiful nails are one less thing she has to worry about.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely wasn’t a smooth road.
When I opened my studio, I wasn’t thinking about building a brand or becoming a business owner. Honestly, I was just hoping to make enough to pay the rent.
I didn’t have a business plan or a full schedule of clients waiting for me. I was in a new country, facing a lot of uncertainty, with a strong feeling that I simply had to try.
Starting over after 40 wasn’t easy, but it also gave me something I probably wouldn’t have had in my twenties—clarity. By then, I already knew the kind of experience I valued as a client. I didn’t want to create a busy salon where everything felt rushed. I wanted every appointment to feel unhurried—a couple of hours where a woman could slow down before getting back to everyday life.
Today, success means something very different to me than it did in the beginning. Of course, I’m grateful that I no longer worry about simply paying the rent. But what brings me the most joy is removing an old set and seeing healthy natural nails underneath. To me, that’s the best sign that I’ve done my job well.
Looking back, I can see that every challenge shaped both my business and me. I still don’t know exactly where this journey will take me, and honestly, I like that. It reminds me that I’m still learning, still growing, and that this is probably only the beginning.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Today, I own a private nail studio, Nail Therapy Lounge, in Grapevine, Texas, where I specialize in e-file manicures and builder gel. For me, great service is about much more than beautiful nails. It’s about creating healthy, long-lasting results with precision and care while giving each client an experience that feels personal.
While trends come and go, I’ve always been drawn to timeless elegance—classic colors, French manicures, and clean, elegant nails. The beauty industry never stands still, and neither do I. I’m always learning, refining my techniques, and growing as a professional.
I’ve always believed that style lives in the details, and a manicure is the finishing touch that brings everything together.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My family gave me the courage to start, my educators gave me the skills, and my clients gave me the experience. Every person I’ve met along the way has helped shape both my business and me.
