Today we’d like to introduce you to Britni Weiss.
Hi Britni, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I knew that I would be leaving my 9-5 job in church ministry after having my son in April. At the time, I didn’t have anything lined up for work, but I knew that I was not going to be able to do nothing. I needed something outside of being a mom – something I could use my skill sets and allow for creativity.
My mom (Shelly Ramsey) came to me in 2021, towards the end of my pregnancy with my second and asked if I wanted to do a training to become a travel agent with her. I had grown up traveling and my mom was the one that taught me the art of planning enough, but also allowing for adventure. So, I said yes, and we did it together.
After that training, we started Trip Designers as a mother-daughter duo. As our business has grown, it’s been cool to see our strengths grow along with our client base. Combined we have sold over 1.6 million in travel. From domestic family trips, 2 week European adventures, to destination weddings, we have loved walking alongside our clients and helping them make memories.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any new job, there is going to be a learning curve. Becoming a travel agent is not for the faint of heart. It is truly up to you to becoming as knowledgable and educated in the world of travel and meet the expectations of your clients.
In the end, this was our business, we had to decide how we wanted to be perceived, what services we wanted to offer and how much time we wanted to spend working. After 4 years, I feel like we have really honed our craft and learned – through trial and error – a lot about who we are. I’m truly proud of where we are and what we offer our clients.
We’ve been impressed with Trip Designers, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a mother/daughter duo that truly loves planning travel. We believe that memories that last forever are those that are made on vacation. Therefore, we want to remove the stress of planning and allow us to use our expertise and relationships with brands to help you get those passport stamps and fill your phone with photos that you will look back on fondly.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
We are both true eldest daughters. Both of us are type A, love a good itinerary and love gathering people for celebrations.
