Today we’d like to introduce you to Jakobi Dye.
Hi Jakobi , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
VibeSuit is an audio technology company reimagining how people experience, create, and interact with sound. At the center of our ecosystem is the VibeSuit, an immersive wearable speaker device that allows users to not only hear their music, but also physically feel bass vibrations through synchronized haptic technology, creating a richer and more immersive listening experience. Beyond the VibeSuit, we are developing a unique lineup of innovative speaker products and building software for the XR space that enables users to create, design, and experience music in augmented and virtual reality. Our mission is to redefine the future of audio by blending sound, touch, and spatial computing into a single immersive ecosystem.
The idea for VibeSuit came from a personal experience. While studying abroad in Thailand, I didn’t have a car or access to a quality sound system. I’ve always loved music—especially music with deep, powerful bass—but headphones alone never recreated the immersive feeling of being surrounded by a high-quality speaker system. I wanted a way to experience that same energy anywhere, without being limited to a car or traditional speakers.
When I returned to the United States, I was living with my parents. Since I didn’t want to disturb my family, I would often sit in my car late at night just to enjoy my music with the bass turned up. During those moments, I realized there had to be a better way to experience immersive sound privately and on the go. That realization became the foundation of the VibeSuit.
Today, we’re developing our wearable technology, expanding our portfolio of innovative speaker products, and building immersive XR software that empowers users to create, design, and experience music in entirely new ways. We’ve assembled a multidisciplinary team, filed a provisional patent to protect our core innovations, and are actively bringing our vision to life. Our goal is to build an ecosystem that transforms how people experience, create, and interact with sound, making immersive audio more portable, more interactive, and more accessible while inspiring the next generation of innovation in audio technology.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building an audio technology company from the ground up has come with a lot of obstacles, uncertainty, and continuous learning. The biggest challenge was that I started this journey as someone who simply loved music—I wasn’t an audio engineer or a hardware expert.
I quickly realized that if I wanted to build something meaningful, I had to invest in myself first. One of the biggest steps I took was enrolling in audio engineering school so I could better understand the science behind sound, audio systems, and the technology that powers immersive experiences. That education gave me a stronger technical foundation and allowed me to have more informed conversations with engineers, designers, and industry professionals.
Another major challenge has been navigating an industry where there isn’t always a clear roadmap. Building consumer hardware is expensive, and unlike software, it often requires significant capital before you even have a finished product. I’ve had to learn how to be resourceful—making the most of limited resources, researching every decision carefully, finding affordable ways to move forward, and surrounding myself with people I trust who believe in the vision.
Every obstacle has taught me something new, whether it’s product development, intellectual property, fundraising, team building, or leadership. While the journey hasn’t been easy, those challenges have ultimately made me a better founder and have strengthened both the company and my vision for what VIBESUIT can become.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
VIBESUIT is an audio technology company focused on immersive wearables, innovative cultural speaker designs, and creating and designing music in the XR space. Our mission is to redefine the way people experience sound by making it more immersive, interactive, and accessible.
Our flagship product, the Vibesuit, is a wearable wrist speaker device that produces physical bass-like vibrations, allowing users to physically feel the music they’re listening to. Imagine being in a car with a premium sound system or standing in front of the speakers at a live concert—you’re not just hearing the music, you’re feeling the bass throughout your body. Now imagine being able to experience that feeling wherever and whenever you want. That’s what the Vibesuit is designed to deliver.
What sets us apart is our connection to the culture. Our team comes from a young, diverse background, and we’re bringing a fresh perspective to the audio technology industry. We’re not only developing new ways to physically experience sound through wearable technology, but we’re also building the future of creating and experiencing audio-visual content in the XR space. We believe immersive technology will transform how people create, perform, and connect with music/audio.
We want readers to know that we’re actively looking to connect with software developers who have experience with digital audio workstations (DAWs), music technology, and immersive audio applications. We’re also seeking investment partners to help us continue developing prototypes, refine the Vibesuit, and bring our growing lineup of innovative audio products to market.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We are currently prototyping and we would be grateful for any mentorship in hardware technology startups.
