Conversations with Rosa Monte Rosa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosa Monte Rosa.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We always admired the crude spirit of the proto-punk and garage rock of the ’60s, so when the garage rock revival rolled around in the 2010s, we were enamored by the modern fuzzed-out take on that same raw sound. We’ve spent years developing our sound to be an homage to not only the legends from the 60’s like The 13th Floor Elevators and Question Mark and the Mysterians, but also to our inspirations from the 2010’s, including Ty Segall and The Growlers. We want to bring the same spirit and fuzzed-out sound to the stages of DFW.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
From house shows to big stages we’ve pushed our way along, juggling the tasks of writing, practicing, performing, and creating content. It has taken a long time and been difficult to see the progress at some points, but we’ve created a set of songs we’re proud to perform and excited for people to hear.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’re creating the music we want to listen to, continuing a legacy of noise pollution and punk energy that has existed for decades. We take the sounds of our inspirations and put our own soul into it. From surf, to punk, to grunge, we combine the music that gave us the spark to play into something we love and want people to enjoy.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
A crowd is a crowd. From 10 people to 1000 as long as we live our truth up on stage we’re doing it right.
