Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Merron.
Hi Kristin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Kristin Merron, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Mom Brain Media®, a creator-powered media company I built alongside my business partner and fellow mom, Jen McKee.
Mom Brain Media was born from the belief that if you want to have a meaningful role in shaping your children’s future, you first have to have some control over your own.
Jen and I met in an early childhood PTA during the height of COVID while we were both home raising infants. During that season, I started creating content as a creative outlet. As it became time to return to the workforce, I found myself facing something many mothers experience: the motherhood gap. After taking time away to raise my children, I was looking at returning to a role and salary that no longer reflected my experience.
Instead of starting over, I decided to start something new.
Jen and I founded Mom Brain Media on the belief that motherhood doesn’t diminish your professional abilities, it strengthens them. Every day, mothers develop the very skills businesses are looking for: adaptability, resilience, strategic thinking, communication, and the ability to juggle countless priorities while leading with empathy. What many people dismiss as “mom brain,” we see as a superpower.
Today, Mom Brain Media is a creator-powered media company helping rising creators and small businesses build visibility, connection, and legacy through strategic storytelling and community-driven amplification. We help entrepreneurs embrace the strengths they’ve developed through motherhood and translate those same skills into stronger brands, more effective marketing, and thriving businesses.
Looking back, I’m grateful I took the risk. What began as a way to create more freedom for my own family has grown into a company with a much bigger mission: changing the narrative around motherhood. We believe becoming a mother isn’t a setback to your career; it’s one of the greatest leadership trainings you’ll ever receive.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many mothers, we are building a business while raising young children. There are seasons when we wonder if we’re giving enough to either role. Society often tells women they have to choose between being present for their families and pursuing ambitious careers, but we’ve made it our mission to challenge that narrative.
Building a business from the ground up has also meant wearing every hat imaginable. We didn’t have a roadmap, unlimited resources, or a large team behind us. Every lesson has been earned through experience, and every milestone has come from showing up consistently, even when progress felt slower than we hoped.
One of our biggest challenges has been changing the perception of what “Mom Brain” means. It’s often used as a joke or shorthand for being forgetful, but we believe it’s exactly the opposite. The mental load mothers carry develops remarkable leadership skills: adaptability, resilience, strategic thinking, empathy, and the ability to solve problems under pressure. Reclaiming that narrative has become one of the driving forces behind our company.
More than anything, entrepreneurship has taught us to embrace seasons. Just like motherhood, business isn’t linear. There are seasons of growth, seasons of uncertainty, and seasons that require you to simply keep showing up. Right now, we’re very much in what feels like the newborn stage of building a business—it’s demanding, gritty, and requires more of us than we sometimes expect. But we’ve learned that adaptability is one of our greatest strengths. Being willing to pivot, learn, and evolve has carried us through every challenge so far, and we’re intentionally building toward the seasons that bring greater freedom, flexibility, and impact. That’s what keeps us moving forward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Mom Brain Media is a creator-powered media company helping rising creators and small businesses build visibility, connection, and legacy through strategic storytelling and community-driven amplification.
While many marketing companies focus solely on content creation or advertising, we’ve built our business around a different belief: people don’t just buy products or services. They build relationships with brands they know, trust, and connect with.
That’s why our work extends beyond social media. We help businesses strengthen both their digital presence and their real-world presence through strategic content, creator collaborations, experiential events, brand partnerships, and meaningful community connections. Through signature experiences like the **Boss Women Bus Tour™**, **Robes on the Road™**, and community events, we create opportunities for people to connect with brands in meaningful, memorable ways. We believe the strongest businesses don’t choose between digital marketing and real-world relationships. They intentionally use each to strengthen the other.
At the heart of everything we do is our philosophy: **Market Like a Mother™.** Mothers are some of the most resourceful, resilient, and emotionally intelligent marketers in the world because they understand people. They anticipate needs, build trust, communicate with intention, and create lasting relationships. We believe those same principles are what make businesses truly magnetic.
What makes us different is that we don’t measure success solely by followers or viral moments. We care about helping businesses become known, remembered, and recommended within their communities. Sometimes that happens through a Reel. Sometimes it happens through a collaboration, an event, or a strategic introduction. The strategy always depends on the relationship we’re trying to build.
The thing we’re most proud of is the community we’ve created. Mom Brain Media has become more than a marketing company. It’s a network where entrepreneurs, creators, and business owners champion one another, open doors for each other, and prove that business grows faster when it’s built on genuine human connection.
What makes you happy?
The things that make me happiest all have one thing in common: connection.
Whether it’s watching my kids experience something for the first time, seeing a room full of strangers leave as friends, or helping a business owner finally recognize the value they bring to the world, I love creating moments that make people feel seen.
Motherhood has changed the way I define success. Of course I’m proud of what we’re building at Mom Brain Media, but I’m even more grateful that my children get to watch it happen. They see the hard work, the setbacks, the wins, and the relationships behind it all. I hope they’re learning that building something meaningful takes courage, perseverance, and community.
At the end of the day, I don’t think people remember the perfectly curated moments. They remember how they felt. If I can help create more moments where people feel connected, encouraged, and inspired, whether through my family, my work, or my community, that’s a life I’m proud to live.
