Life & Work with Temika Marie of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Temika Marie.

Hi Temika, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has been anything but linear, and that’s exactly what makes it meaningful. I’m a Dallas based travel creator (born and raised in New Orleans), travel advisor, and entrepreneur who has always loved discovering new places, cultures, and experiences. What started as simply sharing my travels has evolved into a mission of helping women over 40 realize that life doesn’t stop after setbacks. It can actually become even more fulfilling.

Over the past year, my life changed dramatically. I survived a heart attack, underwent emergency surgery to receive a heart stent at 42, completed cardiac rehabilitation, and made the decision to completely reset my lifestyle. Instead of letting that experience define me, I used it to redefine myself.

Today, through Tee in Transit, I document affordable travel, cultural experiences, wellness, food, and fashion while encouraging other women to embrace their own reset. Whether I’m highlighting hidden gems in Dallas, exploring destinations around the world, or partnering with hotels and tourism brands, my goal is to show that you don’t have to wait for “someday” to start living. Every trip I take is a reminder that life is meant to be experienced, and I hope my story inspires others to book the trip, prioritize their health, and create memories without breaking the bank.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped who I am today. One of the biggest turning points in my life was surviving a heart attack at 42 and receiving a heart stent. That experience forced me to slow down, prioritize my health, and completely rethink how I wanted to live my life.

Building a brand while balancing recovery, financial uncertainty, and the realities of entrepreneurship has also been challenging. There have been moments of self doubt, setbacks, and learning to wear every hat as a creator, from filming and editing content to pitching brands and running my travel business.

Instead of seeing those obstacles as roadblocks, I’ve chosen to see them as opportunities to grow. They’ve made me more resilient, more intentional, and more passionate about encouraging other women to stop waiting for the “perfect” time to pursue their goals. If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that setbacks don’t have to define your story. Sometimes they become the very reason your story can inspire someone else.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve always been passionate about creating experiences that bring people together. After moving to Dallas, I built a career as a professional chef, which allowed me to express my creativity through food while connecting with people from different cultures. Over the years, I’ve earned certifications and experience across several industries, including culinary arts, travel, customer service, and digital media. Those experiences taught me to adapt, keep learning, and never be afraid to reinvent myself.

Today, I bring all of those passions together through Tee in Transit. As a content creator and travel advisor, I inspire women, especially those over 40, to embrace their own reset through affordable travel, wellness, food, and style. Whether I’m highlighting a boutique hotel, discovering a hidden restaurant, or sharing my wellness journey after surviving a heart attack, my goal is to create authentic stories that educate, inspire, and encourage others to experience more of life.

What makes my work unique is that it reflects every chapter of my journey. From chef to entrepreneur to travel creator, each experience has shaped the way I tell stories and connect with my audience. I believe every experience, every setback, and every new beginning has prepared me to do the work I’m most passionate about today.

What were you like growing up?
Ohhhh I was a FIRECRACKER at times lol.. a lot of times, but Growing up in New Orleans, I was naturally curious, creative, and always looking for my next adventure. I loved meeting new people, trying new things, and finding ways to express myself, whether through food, fashion, or creating memorable experiences. I’ve always been the kind of person who believes life is meant to be lived, not just watched from the sidelines.

Even as a child, I enjoyed helping others and bringing people together. Looking back, it’s no surprise that I eventually built careers in hospitality, culinary arts, travel, and content creation because they all revolve around connection and creating meaningful experiences.

While I’ve always been adventurous, I’ve also been resilient. Every chapter of my life has taught me something new, and those lessons have shaped the person I am today. I still carry that same curiosity and excitement into everything I do, whether I’m exploring a new destination, discovering a hidden local gem, or encouraging other women to embrace new experiences and create a life they love.
