Check Out LaMonica Jackson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaMonica Jackson.

LaMonica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The Learning Lighthouse was born from my passion for teaching and helping children reach their full potential. As a kindergarten teacher, I saw many students who needed more personalized support than a traditional classroom could always provide. That inspired me to create a space where children could learn at their own pace in a nurturing, engaging environment. What began as a vision for small-group tutoring has grown into a learning community serving Pre-K through elementary students. Today, we focus on building strong academic foundations, confidence, and a love for learning; meeting each child exactly where they are.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many small businesses, one of the biggest challenges has been building enrollment, balancing finances, and learning the business side of education while still teaching full-time. There were moments of uncertainty, wondering if families would trust the vision, if the timing was right, or if I could manage it all. Another challenge has been understanding the logistics of growth, from staffing to scheduling to creating sustainable systems. But each struggle has taught me resilience, strengthened my purpose, and reminded me why I started: to make a difference in children’s lives.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At The Learning Lighthouse, we provide personalized educational support for children from Pre-K through elementary. We specialize in early childhood education, foundational reading skills, math readiness, and small-group instruction tailored to each child’s individual needs. Our approach focuses on meeting students where they are and building both their academic skills and confidence.
We are known for creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences that make education fun while still being intentional and effective. What I’m most proud of is seeing children grow. Not just academically, but in their confidence and love for learning.
What sets me apart is my ability to personalize instruction, build strong relationships with families, and create a nurturing environment where every child feels seen, supported, and capable of success.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality I believe has been most important to my success is perseverance. Building The Learning Lighthouse has required patience, consistency, and the ability to keep moving forward even when things felt uncertain. There have been challenges in balancing teaching, family, and entrepreneurship, but perseverance has kept me focused on the bigger purpose. Along with that, my passion for children and commitment to seeing them succeed has been the driving force behind everything I do. I believe when you stay dedicated to your purpose and remain flexible through challenges, growth will follow.
