Rising Stars: Meet Jalen Mathis and Eric Stafford of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalen Mathis and Eric Stafford.

Hi Jalen and Eric, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Off Tha Rip started as a passion project built around authentic conversations and community. We wanted to create a platform where people could speak freely about sports, culture, business, and life. What began as a simple podcast between friends has grown into a media brand that hosts live events, creates original content, and highlights voices from our community. Our growth has come from staying consistent, staying genuine, and always putting the audience first.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many growing brands, we’ve faced challenges with funding, building an audience, maintaining consistency, and balancing our personal and professional responsibilities while growing Off Tha Rip. There were times when engagement was low, events didn’t go exactly as planned, and we questioned whether the work was paying off. However, those challenges taught us resilience and forced us to become more creative, disciplined, and intentional. Every obstacle has helped shape Off Tha Rip into what it is today, and we’re grateful for the lessons that came with the journey.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Off Tha Rip, we create content that sits at the intersection of sports, culture, entrepreneurship, and personal growth. Through our podcast, live events, and digital content, we specialize in authentic conversations that give people a platform to share their stories, experiences, and perspectives.

What we’re most proud of is building a brand that genuinely connects with the community. We’ve grown from a small podcast into a platform that hosts live shows, collaborates with local businesses and creators, and creates opportunities for people to be seen and heard.

What sets us apart is our authenticity. We don’t try to manufacture conversations or chase trends—we focus on real discussions, real relationships, and real impact. Our audience trusts us because we stay true to who we are, and that authenticity has been the foundation of our growth.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The biggest advice is to start before you feel ready. A lot of people spend too much time waiting for the perfect moment, perfect equipment, or perfect plan, but growth comes from taking action and learning along the way.

One thing I wish I knew when starting Off Tha Rip is that consistency matters more than perfection. There will be times when the views are low, support feels limited, or progress seems slow, but those are the moments that truly test your commitment. Keep showing up, keep improving, and trust the process.

Most importantly, stay authentic. It’s easy to compare yourself to others or chase what’s trending, but the people who make a lasting impact are the ones who remain true to themselves and their vision. Build something you’re proud of, serve your community, and let your passion lead the way.
