Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Pierre.
Hi Camille, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This addition helps show the dedication and balance you’ve maintained while building your business:
My photography journey began with a simple passion for capturing moments and helping people see their beauty, confidence, and purpose through photography. When I first started my business, it was called Millie’s Photography. I worked hard to build my brand, create content, and grow my client base, but no matter what I did, it felt like I kept running into obstacles. My photography pages would repeatedly get taken down, and despite my efforts, I felt like I wasn’t truly moving forward.
At the same time, I was building my career as a full-time Agriculture teacher and soccer coach. Between lesson planning, FFA activities, coaching, games, and serving my students, photography became the creative outlet that allowed me to connect with people and tell their stories. Many days were spent teaching in the classroom, coaching on the field, and then picking up my camera in the evenings and on weekends to serve my photography clients.
One day during prayer and reflection, I felt God speaking to my heart, saying, “The reason I’m not allowing you to flourish is because you haven’t included Me in your business.” That moment changed everything. I realized I had built the business around my talents and vision, but I hadn’t fully surrendered it to God.
Shortly afterward, I was led to the Book of Esther. As I studied Esther’s story, I was inspired by her faith, courage, obedience, and willingness to walk in the purpose God had placed on her life. Her story reminded me that success isn’t just about talent, it’s about being aligned with God’s calling.
That revelation led to the birth of Esther’s Visionary. The name represents more than photography; it represents seeing people through God’s eyes, helping them recognize their worth, and capturing the vision and purpose He has placed on their lives. Since rebranding, I’ve continued to grow not only as a photographer but also as a business owner who seeks to honor God through my work.
Today, Esther’s Visionary specializes in creating meaningful portraits, headshots, and memorable experiences that tell stories, build confidence, and preserve life’s most important moments. My journey has been one of faith, perseverance, and purpose, balancing life as an educator, coach, and entrepreneur while trusting God to guide every step. What began as a passion has become a ministry through photography, allowing me to serve others while glorifying the One who gave me the vision in the first place.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many entrepreneurs, my journey has come with its share of challenges. One of the biggest struggles was simply getting started while balancing a full-time career as an Agriculture teacher and soccer coach. There were long days when I would spend hours in the classroom, head straight to practice or games, and then spend my evenings editing photos, answering client inquiries, and learning more about photography.
Another challenge was building a brand that truly reflected my purpose. When my business was originally called Millie’s Photography, I experienced repeated setbacks, including my photography pages being taken down. It felt like every time I tried to move forward, something stood in the way. There were moments of frustration, doubt, and wondering if I should continue.
Financially, there were sacrifices as well. Investing in camera equipment, software, marketing, and education required faith and commitment before seeing consistent returns. As a new business owner, I had to learn everything from pricing and contracts to client communication and marketing.
The most vulnerable thing that I had to go through was going to photography workshops. When I walked into the room, I was met with photographers from all over Dallas. Not only did I feel like the youngest in the room, but I felt like the one with the least amount of experience. I then met my mentor Ray Alvarez. I completed his workshop and knew that I had to be his mentee. Ray has taught me so much from off camera lighting, editing, and camera settings.
Looking back, every obstacle taught me something valuable. The setbacks strengthened my faith, the challenges built resilience, and the long hours taught me discipline. What once felt like roadblocks were actually lessons preparing me for the purpose God had planned. The journey hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it, and every challenge has played a role in shaping both me and Esther’s Visionary into what we are today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Outside of education, I am the owner and photographer behind Esther’s Visionary, a photography brand focused on capturing meaningful, authentic, and empowering portraits. I specialize in portraits, headshots, and milestone photography. Work that highlights personality, confidence, and purpose in every client I serve. My goal is not just to take pictures, but to create an experience where people feel seen, valued, and confident in who they are.
What I am most proud of is the journey itself. Building a business while working full-time as an educator and coach has required sacrifice, discipline, and a lot of faith. I’m especially proud of how my brand evolved into Esther’s Visionary, a transformation that reflects both personal growth and spiritual alignment.
What sets me apart is the intentionality behind my work. I don’t see photography as just a service. I see it as a way to tell stories and reflect purpose. My background in education helps me connect with people from all walks of life, and my coaching experience brings structure, leadership, and energy into every session. Combined with my faith-driven vision, it allows me to create not just photos, but meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impact.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I truly believe that no journey is built alone, and I am deeply grateful for the people God has placed in my life who have played a role in my growth personally, spiritually, and professionally.
One of the most impactful people in my life is Marleigha McGinty, my mentor from college at Prairie View A&M University. Our connection has grown into something much deeper than mentorship. We have become like sisters in Christ and in life. Marleigha has played a major role in helping me grow in my walk with God, consistently encouraging my faith and keeping me grounded spiritually. She was also the person who informed me about the teaching position at Seagoville High School, which became a major turning point in my career.
Beyond that, she has continuously supported my photography journey in so many ways. From investing in my business by purchasing gear for me, to allowing me to use her own platform to promote my photography work, and even trusting me to capture her in various portrait sessions. She has truly been one of my biggest supporters. I am incredibly grateful that God aligned our paths, and I am blessed to call her my big sister.
Another important mentor in my photography journey is Ray Alvarez, whom I met through a photography workshop he hosted in Dallas, Texas. From that moment forward, Ray has been a consistent source of guidance, encouragement, and knowledge. He has taught me valuable skills in photography and has always been available whenever I have questions. His support and willingness to help have played a huge role in my growth and confidence as a photographer.
I also want to acknowledge Pastor Ricky Rush of Inspirational Body of Christ in Oak Cliff, Texas. While he has not been a direct personal mentor, his ministry has had a powerful impact on my spiritual journey. Watching his services and hearing his teachings has strengthened my relationship with God and reminded me that none of my success would be possible without Him at the center.
Each of these individuals has contributed to my journey in different ways: through faith, opportunity, guidance, and encouragement and I am truly thankful for every one of them.
