Rising Stars: Meet Jasmine Holmes of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Holmes.

Hi Jasmine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This started from not having community or any support. My husband and I were 5 kids deep and in couples therapy when our therapist broke it down to us…Our main issue was having way to much in our “wagon” with no support to carry it. Understanding that we were never meant to carry it alone changed everything! So one day i was in a ” Who’s you’re avatar class” that was being given at my brokerage. I learned the people you want to attract are usually the type of folks who are into the things you are into…So it began, looking to create a support system aka community for myself and knowing i couldn’t be the only one going through what i was going through. I created DFW Black Moms Walking! Fast forward to today , we are now a non profit with Walk Leaders all over DFW area leading walks and bringing other moms out of isolation and into community and connected to local resources. We have 20+ leaders who we train in self awareness, emotional intelligence and Mental Health First Aid. We aim to be a support system to our community and community partners.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been the smoothest road. There has been some struggles for sure…I didn’t go to school to lead a non profit organization and I’m new to leadership and building community. I have had moments where I didn’t communicate the best. In the beginning of starting this I learned lessons through challenges with people. I learned quickly that self awareness and emotional intelligence plays a strong role in being a leader and building real community. My best friend told me “God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called”. Thanks Julie. Leadership has had its struggles but I do my best!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the Founder , Executive Director, Community connector, Community Doula, Bridge, Mental Health Advocate, and Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor. Oh and let’s not forget I have my Real Estate License and soon Life Insurance License. Everything i do or learn is to better my family and my community. I specialize in community care and outreach. I am most proud of building community and helping women build social
capital. I started the DFWBMW Care Package Initiative Jan 2026, where we help 1 to 2 moms a month who are experiencing a mental health crisis or major life transition through custom care. We have partnered with local therapy practices, black owned businesses, and allies to help make this happen. So far 8 moms have been helped through this program. There is a lot I am proud of ! What sets me apart from others is this is my calling. I didn’t grow up knowing or wanting to do this kind of work. God called me to this space and has been leading me ever since. I do my best to be obedient even when no one else understands.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would say my genuine heart to see people succeed and be healthy in all areas of their life. Most of the time i help people without it even benefiting me. I don’t look to be blessed by people i know my blessings will come from God.
