Today we’d like to introduce you to Fred Becker.

Fred began his interest in magic at an early age. He started by making frequent trips to the local library and devoured all the information he could. One year he received a magic set as a Christmas present and that further cemented his studies into magic and performance.

By the time he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication from the Pennsylvania State University, Fred was performing professionally at an amusement park and private parties. After college, he attended an exclusive mentorship program for magicians titled, “The Chavez College of Prestidigitation and Manual Dexterity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chavez_School_of_Magic.

Once he had these skills mastered, Fred began building a career performing his magic around the world at resorts and luxury cruise ships.

Bobbie (Finder) Becker, spent her formative years outside of Houston Texas learning music from her father and church choir. As a young teen, she pushed for her small school to have a music program. She flourished in choral groups and musical theatre. After her family moved to Oklahoma, Bobbie got involved with the Miss Oklahoma Pageant System. She won many scholarships and titles and was able to put her through college.

After graduation, and some time spent in a “real job” in politics, Bobbie was cast as a lead female singer for a number of entertainment groups on cruise ships. Fred and Bobbie met on a cruise ship that they were both hired to entertain on. In short order, they not just teamed up professionally but also personally. They were married in 2009.

A few years ago, Fred and Bobbie had the honor of performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. under the direction of the late Marvin Hamlisch accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra. They appeared on last year’s “Penn and Teller: Fool Us” television show. They’ve won several awards for the programs and will soon be appearing at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the more interesting struggles they have is to find the right mix of their individual talents. Fred’s skills are centered around his ability to improve, to win an audience over with his relaxed comedic style. Finding the right way to balance these seemingly opposites is something that the Beckers spend a lot of time on. “What the audience sees looks pretty effortless, But the truth is we often spend months and months developing about three minutes worth of stage time,” states Fred Becker.
