Meet Milli Mills of Millhouse Entertainment in Irving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milli Mills.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Milli. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Millhouse Entertainment was founded in Irving, TX in 2007 with an aim to make seemingly impossibilities possible for gifted and talented youth. Our mission is to enhance the artistic development of youth through educational awareness of the arts/entertainment industry. The organization was designed to serve as an advocate and liaison for gifted and talented youth stemming from challenging backgrounds to bridge the gap between the arts/entertainment industry and our youth… leaving no child left behind.

After working numerous years in broadcasting radio/tv/film, I, often heard the cries of our youth seeking refuge on how to hone their skills and jump-start their career paths but had minimal support from educational leaders and/or parents. This type of disappointment in youth can often result in negative choices such as premarital sex, teen pregnancy, gang violence, bullying, high school drop-out, and drugs and alcohol. Our organization’s efforts are to channel that negative energy in a positive direction; anchoring support and early career development for lifelong achievements.

Free quarterly seminars were launched during the Summer of 2008 in Dallas, TX at participating Community Centers and High Schools mainly in Irving, TX (a suburb of Dallas). These seminars consist of a Panel of Discussion which includes an array of Guest Key Industry Professionals who provide a 15-20 presentation impacted with career tools, insight, and resources. A Talent Showcase is the next segment of the seminar that provides youth attendants an opportunity to display their talents; followed by Door Prizes and Refreshments.

Millhouse Entertainment offers internships and academic scholarships to deserving gifted and talented youth pursuing a career in the field of arts/entertainment. In 2014, Millhouse Entertainment relocated its headquarters office to Atlanta, GA. leaving a sub-office in Irving, TX.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been smooth for the organization. It has been difficult to obtain the financial support and manpower needed to grow or expand the organization in order to obtain maximum success rate.
