Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Fairooz.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I was always interested in cameras and technology. After seeing The Matrix when I was 15, I was inspired to get into filmmaking. I majored in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Film and Graphic Design. In 2007, I did a bit of modeling and learned how lucrative commercial photography could be. Since then, I decided to take a shot at photography and I put filmmaking aside.
After about 3 years of practicing photography and learning through trial and error, I moved to Dallas in 2011 to start my freelance business and doors just kept opening up for me. I guess you could say, I’ve always had a background in photography but it wasn’t until moving to Dallas did it really take off.
Has it been a smooth road?
I can honestly say, it has been a pretty smooth road with a bit of luck I guess. I didn’t know anything about business, SEO or website development but I knew how to use Youtube and online resources.
What I’ve learned over the last 6-7 years of running my own business is this: If you treat people with respect and work your hardest day in and day out, life will reward you especially in Dallas. Dallas is a big small city, meaning word gets around, especially for those who deserve it.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Fairooz Imaging story. Tell us more about the business.
What I do is commercial photography and video production.
What sets me apart is the quality of my work not only in one genre of photography but across the board. I haven’t seen or met anyone else who offers so many genres of photography and video and offers it well. I specialize in lighting. This is why my slogan is “Art Via Light” if you master light you can shoot anything. I’m passionate about making beautiful images, and I believe it shows through my work.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Hard to say, but I see more and more people starting their own business and working from home. I think the demand for photography will continue to rise but at the same time so will tech. I’m always competing with technology, not other photographers.
