Meet Ashley Jones of The Jones Studio of Dance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Jones.

Ashley started The Jones Studio of Dance in 2006 after graduating. She has years of Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Salsa, Hip-Hop, Cheer-leading, Gymnastics, Tumbling, East Coast Swing and West Coast dance experience. She was selected to be a judge for the Kwanzaa Festival tryouts for dance talent, she was a cheerleader in college, she is an Ambassador I for the SPCA of Texas, she has performed in talent shows, recitals, church functions, she’s choreographed several dance routines, CPR certified, she is a member of North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship, she is a member of Women of Faith, speaks German, she has her degree in Arts and her goal is to have her MFA and her PhD in Philosophy of Dance. Ashley is the owner of the North Texas Orcas and Creative Dance Director for the North Texas Orcas semi-pro football league in McKinney, Texas.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Thus far, it has been a smooth road. Definitely word of mouth goes extremely far. Just being a minority and a woman at that makes it more challenging. A lot of my clients high largely successful backgrounds and a lot are more diverse, so sometimes when they see me they think I am just the instructor.

Please tell us about The Jones Studio of Dance.
We offer a wide range of genres for ages two years and up. I have two instructors who have been working for me for over 8 years. We teach jazz, tap, ballet, modern, west & east coast swing, cheerleading, tumbling, gymnastics, modeling, acting, and etiquette. What sets us apart from other dance companies is that we offer a wide variety of classes predominantly for all ages. We believe in one face, one sound. Meaning the same teacher for each class that we offer. We also perform for the TUFL league in which I own a football team which allows all my students to perform.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
This is a hard question to answer because we as individual’s, we fall short and we’re human. If I had to do it all over again, I would not bring my family into a business and I would’ve started with one to two locations instead of doing varieties.
