Today we’d like to introduce you to Azu and Tereasa Agada.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Azu and Tereasa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As avid gym owners, we found ourselves spending a considerate amount of time in the gym. Rain, sleet or snow we realized that the gym was the one thing we allowed to be constant in our life. The Entrepreneurial spirit in us wanted to create something that gave other gym goers the same joy we always got out of a gym. The short version is we’ve made it this far with plenty of hard work, late nights and sacrifice. Having a partner or spouse with the same goal as you and who is equally willing to do whatever it takes to get there has been a huge blessing. Did I mention sacrifice?
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not smooth; more like unpredictable, but I’m loving the process. Thru the many changes, we’ve been able to shape the business into something we can be proud of. If everyone else is doing it, then we’re probably not that interested. The biggest struggle was finding our lane and trusting the process. There is constant hard work, but consistency has been the key.

Urban Grit is a 24-hour access training facility equipped with a wide variety of free weight, strength and functional equipment. From the weighted sled to the metal plates, Urban Grit is truly a warehouse gym. Located in North Dallas, Urban Grit is owned and operated by The Agadas, a couple who took their love of lifting and created an avenue for others to pursue their love of health and well-being too. The culture in our gym is unmatched, the laid-back atmosphere with allows our guest to feel at home. One thing that stands out about our company is its commitment to giving back. with each purchase of our apparel we take a portion of the proceeds to directly affect Dallas communities. with over 30 + homes and counting we have been able to change lives in and outside the gym.
What were you like growing up?
We both (Azu & Tereasa Agada) were raised with humble beginnings. Azu who is the second born of 5 kids was very interested in sports and always active, basketball was his go to sport. Tereasa a softball player and a self-proclaimed introvert was always active as well. Fitness was her outlet to showcase her athleticism and personality.
