Life and Work with Erica Fein and Kelli Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Fein and Kelli Jones.

On a Hot Texas day in August 2015, Erica walked into an Allen, Texas salon that she had heard had been hiring. Wanting to break free of the corporate beauty industry, Erica decided to take a chance and sit down with then manager/lead stylist Kelli. Little did they both know, this meeting would change their lives. Kelli was born and raised in Texas, while Erica was born in Los Angeles, California, and came to Texas via Rochester, New York. You would think they would be complete opposites but to the contrary. Their work ethic, skills, and personalities were a perfect fit. So, while working at the salon, they decided that they should open their own, thus, Shear Angels were Born, est. 1/1/2016

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As in life, The ride wasn’t always smooth. But as a salon, we never like to dwell on the negative. Although there were doubters and nonbelievers, this only fueled their fire to persevere.

“No matter what others tell you, never discount yourself, know your worth and press on. Failure is just a step toward success. If you don’t fail, how will you learn?” -Erica Fein-

Please tell us about Shear Angels Salon.
Shear Angels salon specializes in mermaid/vivid color, platinum/silver hair, long hair, tape in extensions, color formulating, Blow Outs, Makeup application and education, hair cutting, classic highlights/Lowlights, and excellent customer service. Not only are they known for doing amazing hair, they’re also known for educating their clients on how to maintain their beautiful Manes.

“We are extremely proud of the fact that our salon is for everyone, no matter what color, creed, gender, sexual preference, or religion, all people are welcome in our chairs.” -Erica-

What sets them apart from the rest, is that they are Tucked away in a more conservative community, (Allen, TX) but do uptown hair. Why drive 45 minutes to the city, and Pay uptown prices, when you can just go right down the street to get the most up-to-date trends and styles?

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
“Personally, we feel that women Are capable of doing anything they set their mind to. Put in the hard work and effort, and you will go far. Unfortunately, there are glass ceilings in our society, but we must break through them. Don’t allow anyone or anything to stand in your way. Change is inevitable, we are here to speed up the process.”
