So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a 28-year-old Latina; Christian, Mother, Wife and Business Owner. Born and raised in Dallas, TX. First generation in my family to have a career and be a business owner. I have a three year old daughter, Julianna, whom is my every day inspiration. I named my business Jewel Skin Studio after her nick name, “Julie Jewels.” She is my beginning and end of my every day life. I have always had a passion for skin care. I decided to follow my passion and created a lifestyle where I could still be with my daughter the majority of my time. I humbly started off in my in-home studio and started taking clients while finishing aesthetics school. I never imagined my humble and small in-home studio would grow so fast! By the time I had finished school, I had a full blown clientele and a partner! My sister Jazmin, joined the aesthetic field right away and started working with me. She has helped our studio grow, so I could still be dedicated to Jewel, as that was the goal! Being a Latina who is fluent in Spanish truly opened great opportunities for our clientele and business to grow! We now have a studio located in the heart of Oak Cliff with a variety of aesthetic services. In the aesthetic industry, it is so empowering to offer self-love services such as skin care treatments to everyone. It is so rewarding when our clients leave with a glow and they feel and look beautiful in their own skin! We live in a generation where it’s acceptable to cater, treat and take care of yourself as that is self-love! At Jewel Skin Studio we believe that if it makes you feel good, look good and it’s going to give you that confidence, go for it Glo’ babes!
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t all been rainbows and sunshine down my road! Coming into the aesthetic industry as the “new girl” in a neighborhood full of beauty veterans didn’t open a lot of doors for me. I quickly realized it was a very competitive and territorial industry. Many times, I found myself discouraged and wanted to just throw in the towel. I kept positive and also realized I was the first studio who offered different services from the rest. The support my clients brought allowed me to not give up! They motivated, encouraged and kept positivity along the road to finding a location and spot in the Dallas aesthetic field. Jewel Skin Studio is now the first skin care specialty in the Oak Cliff area offering nothing but skin care such as facials, skin care treatments, and many more services! My advice for other women is, we have to genuinely empower one another. There is enough sun to shine on everyone! Don’t be a bully or threatened by the new girls. Let’s set examples, be encouraging and empowering role models!

It definitely helped and showed me how to keep my sanity and happiness.
