Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Lee Hood.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Having creative passions and a strong business drive led me into entrepreneurial ventures into multiple businesses which included product development. This need to develop product evolved into becoming an inventor and patent owner. My creative spirit and ability to think outside the box, coupled with a passion to pursue my art, encouraged me to produce and create art.
Knowing I had more art pieces created than wall space on which to display them, I realized I was not the only artist in that situation. Since the number of ways to publicly display my artwork was limited, I was faced with the realization of being a “starving artist”.
Unwilling to accept this as fact, my marketing skills began to spark ideas. I searched the web and noticed lovely art catalogs, but found none for our area. After visiting with other artists, I knew I had found the solution. I immediately contacted graphic designers, writers and computer experts to begin the making of my dream. I now have a website, artists signing upon a daily basis and the catalog almost ready to go to print. This catalog will be distributed over Texas, focusing on North and North Central Texas and will allow the artists to showcase their creations and connect with art enthusiasts over our great state.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My biggest obstacle is starting this company with a limited budget; however, I have been fortunate to be surrounded by people who endorse this idea and are willing to contribute their time and expertise. This coupled with my creativity has made the journey more pleasant and rewarding.
Having such a love for art and being semi-retired, my dreams have become realities as I have been continually encouraged in the wonderful community of Granbury. It was in this small town that I discovered a part of me that I never knew existed, the part inside my heart that wanted to be a recognized artist. Therefore, I truly believe that the best luck for the development of this project was moving to Granbury, Texas, a community that has the love and the passion for art and is willing to share with others. It was in Granbury where I discovered that I could be an artist, and it was the art community that gave me the blessing and realization of being free spirited and creative on canvas.

The publication of The Eyes of Texas Fine Art Gallery provides and encourages opportunities to have the visual art of Texas available for those who admire and want to start or add to their art collection. We will be distributing 10,000 copies on a biannual basis. We will have a Fall/October and Spring/April publication.
Our art includes paintings (oils, watercolors, acrylic); mixed media, dry media (graphite, charcoal, pastel); sculpture, computer designed art and photography.
Our mission is to have the visual art of North Central and Central Texas artists available for those who admire and want to buy their work. Art is meant to be shared and enjoyed; our publication gives Texas artists a place to showcase their work and allows them to connect with individuals, not only in their community, but in the world. We are exclusively dedicated to the visual arts including, but not limited to, paintings, sculpture and photography. This website is to provide and encourage opportunities for our readers to contact commission artists directly.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Helping artists fulfill their passion of showing and selling their artwork. Increasing opportunities for others to grow. Improving the awareness of visual arts. Doing something for the cause and proudly supporting the artists.
The Eyes of Texas Fine Art Gallery’s mission is to create opportunity and encouragement through visual art. The importance of this catalog connects artists to art followers and enthusiasts. The success and accomplishment of distributing of our virtual arts gallery/artist guide will create an awareness of visual arts in Texas communities.
Looking forward to increased supply and demand in our future spring edition of The Eyes of Texas Fine Art Gallery in April 2019.
