Meet Jo James

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jo James.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I grew up in California as a pastor’s kid, playing in the worship team. I have a very musical family. I went to Musicians Institute in Los Angeles right after High School and studied music and song writing. That’s where my adventure really began. I wrote for lots of people, played guitar and bass for many artists in the Los Angeles area. Me and my wife Chelsea soon after moved to Austin Texas for a change of scenery but also to dive head first into the live music scene. And that’s when my career really started.

Please tell us about your art.
I’m a Musician/Songwriter/ performer. It’s all I’ve known since a child. It’s how I express and communicate my feelings to the world. I hope people take away love, joy, and a little piece of me that maybe helps them to be more open and express themselves. That it’s my heart and soul in a melody.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
It just gives us more colors to paint with. The beautiful thing about music is that it unites people. It brings us together in a world that is being torn apart.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Go to www.jojamesmusic.com and you can find my music, and all my social media sites.
