Meet Riffat Rehman of Tea Crockery in Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Riffat Rehman.

Riffat, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started with love for unique décor and pretty china; originally a tea party quintessential boutique, Tea Crockery has evolved into many things today: a full-fledged specialty event styling outfit, a rental/sale shop for classy details and a lifestyle blog. The journey has been most interesting and serendipitous and continues to make me happy!

Born and raised in Pakistan, I moved to US as an adult and brought with me the passion of formal hosting and flair for fine crockery. The practicality of today’s age is understandable but to keep the flavor alive, I always collected china and antique pieces. In 2004 when my oldest son was diagnosed with autism, I put a halt to this leisure hobby and converted my dining room to therapy room. In few years as we “got used to” the diagnosis, I slowly started acquiring antique pieces again. It didn’t take much for the collection to exceed the capacity of my newly restored dining room. After doing some market research and seeing the then uprising trend for vintage decor, I opened my collection for tea party rentals in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2010. Soon after, my pieces were asked for diverse events like weddings, fund-raisers, product launches and more. I had the luck and pleasure of working with great vendors in the event industry to create styled inspirations and real events. My curations have been featured on famous blogs like Wedding Chicks, Ruffled, Grey Likes Weddings and many more.

As trends changed over years, Tea Crockery advanced likewise and I recently re-branded the business from truly vintage to modern luxury event rentals. In addition to providing an authentic English tea experience to our clients, there is a plethora of design elements to choose from –Retro, Mid-century Modern, Clean Boho, French Country to name a few. You can find in our inventory many pieces to suit your style – all the way from a lovely floral tea cup, primitive linen item, a modern article of furniture to a baroque supporting piece. Whether you come to us with a design idea or are seeking one, we will be able to facilitate your vibes.

After living in sunny Arizona for almost 14 years, I moved with my family to Frisco two years ago but just recently started networking in the event industry. Besides collaborating with amazing vendors for my own styled shoots, I also have been invited to participate in editorials and some publications are on their way.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
At personal level – this business is passion-driven so as a mom of three, a wife and by main career a speech-language pathologist, my challenge is to distribute my time accordingly. On the market level – it is like any other business in the trend and fashion industry – always evolving which is both fun and refreshing.
