Meet Keydrin Franklin of Ninetwentyfour Photography in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keydrin Franklin.

Keydrin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
On September 24, 2011, I purchased my first camera, a Nikon D3100, hence the name Ninetwentyfour Photography. What started out as a hobby has since grown into a passion of mine. From landscapes to animals and people, I find beauty in all things. My goal is to not just merely take a photo, but to create visually stunning art. Over the years, I’ve learned by trial and error from buying gear that just didn’t work for what I was trying to achieve. Along the way I made a lot of connections, including becoming an ambassador for Fort Worth Camera. Additionally, it’s challenging to build a social media following, while also posting in groups to gain feedback to help me fine-tune my craft. I’m currently focused on helping others achieve what took me years to learn by hosting workshops and photowalks that teach lighting with off camera flash, as well as Lightroom and Photoshop techniques. More recently, I’ve also decided to actively pursue videography, and I use YouTube as an outlet to showcase some of my work.

Has it been a smooth road?
In this field, I believe there aren’t any smooth roads, and I’ve encountered my fair share of obstacles. When you set out to build your own business from the ground up, it takes dedication and a lot of time. Nothing comes easy, especially something you’re passionate about. There have been many times over the past seven years when I’ve felt that I wasn’t progressing and wanted to quit, but having a supportive wife and friends helps keep me motivated.

Along the way, you have to realize that communication is the key to making good connections and could possibly help advance your career. I’ve also found that you can’t do everything by yourself. You have to be willing to reach out and accept help, both mentally and physically. Most importantly, you can’t ever get too complacent or comfortable with your destination. It is imperative to stay forward-focused in this ever evolving industry.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ninetwentyfour Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
Ninetwentyfour Photography specializes in high-end portrait photography and videography. My brand is known for its social media presence and shallow depth of field work. My work is often recognized based on how I render and tone my images.

I’m most proud of how much I’ve developed my brand/company in just seven short years. Creating and growing a social media following is hard work, but it’s an achievement that gives me great satisfaction.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I see myself as a film maker creating short films. I really want to focus on advancing my videography skills. Of course, photography will always be my first love, and I will continue producing high-end portrait work.
