We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amber Price. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Amber, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about my work is the belief that textured hair cannot be luxury. For too long, textured hair services have been placed in a separate category, seen as extra work or just maintenance, rather than elevated experiences worthy of the same prestige as any high-end salon service. That mindset has shaped not only how clients view their hair but also how professionals approach it.
My mission is to completely change that narrative. Textured hair deserves the same polish, artistry, and excellence that people automatically associate with luxury blowouts or silk presses on straight textures. The truth is, luxury is not about the texture of the hair. It is about the standard of care, the quality of the technique, and the experience delivered.
Through my brand, my classes, and my products, I am creating a new standard where the foundation of luxury begins at the blowout. When a stylist can master the art of tension, detangling, and round brushing textured hair, they are not just preparing for a style. They are giving their client a crown that radiates confidence, health, and sophistication.
What people often do not see is the behind-the-scenes work that goes into building this movement. I am developing education, tools, and systems that will allow stylists everywhere to bring this standard into their own businesses. It is not just about me behind the chair. It is about breaking the cycle of textured hair being treated as less than and showing the industry, and the world, that it belongs in the luxury conversation.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amber Nicole and I am a hairstylist and brand builder dedicated to redefining how textured hair is seen in the beauty industry. For years I have specialized in luxury blowouts, silk presses, and scalp care, and along the way I realized that my true mission is bigger than the chair. Textured hair has too often been treated as routine maintenance instead of artistry, and I am on a mission to change that.
Right now I am expanding my work into education through Beauty Lyfe Academy, where I will be teaching stylists how to master polished, tension-based blowouts for textured hair. I am also developing The Personal Scalp Trainer, a client-focused platform designed to help women heal their scalp and hair from the inside out. These are extensions of what I have already been doing with my clients for years — sharing knowledge, building confidence, and creating results that last — but now I am giving them a name and a structure so they can reach more people.
What makes my brand unique is the way it bridges artistry, education, and empowerment. I am not just creating hairstyles, I am building resources, tools, and systems that change how professionals serve and how clients experience their crown. My goal is not only to create beauty in the moment, but to build a lasting standard of luxury and care that elevates textured hair for generations to come.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that shaped how I see the world was realizing that the beauty industry I loved so much did not always see textured hair as beautiful, let alone luxury. Growing up, and even early in my career, I noticed how textured hair was often treated as a challenge instead of a canvas, something to “manage” instead of something to celebrate. That awareness opened my eyes to how deeply perception can impact not only how people see themselves but also how entire industries operate.
That moment shifted me. I knew I could not just stand by and accept that narrative. Instead, I chose to commit my career to creating a new standard where textured hair is valued, respected, and elevated to the same level as any other hair type. It taught me that cycles can be broken, but someone has to be brave enough to go first.
Now, every time I step into the salon, write an eBook, or build out my educational programs, I am guided by that moment. I carry it with me as a reminder that my work is not just about styling hair. It is about transforming how people see themselves and how the world sees textured hair, not as “different” or “difficult,” but as luxury, worthy of the highest level of care and artistry.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have definitely been times when life tested me. Juggling motherhood, rebuilding my business, and pushing through financial struggles could have easily been moments where giving up seemed like the only option. But even then, I never gave up. The thought of quitting has never been able to take root in me, because I know my purpose runs too deep.
It would have been easier to let that mindset creep in and tell myself it was too much, but I am too driven for that. I believe there is always a way forward if you are willing to pivot. What most people call “taking an L” has never been a loss to me. I see every L as learning, never losing. Every setback I’ve faced has taught me how to adapt, reframe, and push forward with even more determination.
For me, giving up has never been an option. I see challenges as invitations to grow into the next version of myself. That resilience is what has carried me through the hardest seasons and is also what drives me to build platforms, products, and education that empower others to rise through their own struggles too.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the beauty industry is the belief that textured hair is “too difficult,” “too much work,” or not worthy of being placed in the luxury category. That mindset has been passed down for generations, shaping how services are priced, how stylists are trained, and how clients are made to feel about their hair.
The truth is textured hair is not a burden, it is a crown. The real issue is that the industry has not invested enough in the proper education, tools, and systems to treat textured hair with the same care and polish given to other textures. When those pieces are in place, the work is not more difficult, it is just different.
What drives me is proving that luxury is not defined by texture, it is defined by technique, excellence, and experience. My mission is to dismantle the lie that textured hair cannot be refined, elegant, or high-end, because I see every day that it can. And the more we, as professionals, stop believing that lie, the more we can create a new industry standard that celebrates textured hair as luxury at its finest.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people tell the story of a woman who broke cycles, created opportunities, and raised the standard for how textured hair is seen and experienced. I want my legacy to be that I took what the world often overlooked and proved it was worthy of the highest level of care, artistry, and luxury.
I hope they say that I did not just style hair, but that I transformed lives. That I built systems, tools, and education that opened doors for stylists and gave clients the confidence to see their crowns as beautiful and worthy. That I showed people how to pivot instead of quit, and how to turn every “L” into learning instead of loss.
Most of all, I want the story to be that I left a blueprint. A blueprint for my children, for my community, and for the beauty industry that shows you can build with excellence, lead with purpose, and create generational impact. If people can look back and say, “Because of her, I believed I could do more, build more, and become more,” then I will have fulfilled my purpose.
