Alexis Milner shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Alexis , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
One of the most meaningful parts of my work is getting to know my clients’ stories—especially those that surprise or move me. Many come in either before or after significant life events, seeking self-care, healing, and a refreshed sense of confidence. During our sessions, clients often share funny, touching, or unforgettable moments, and no two days are the same. I love that. Each session is not just about aesthetics—it’s about being present, listening, and uplifting someone in a way that goes beyond the mirror.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Alexis, I am a Registered Nurse Aesthetic Injector at Charette Cosmetics Medical Spa in Dallas, Texas. I treat men and women in all things injectables, including botox, filler, IV hydration, vitamin booster shots. I specialize in natural facial balancing, and minimalist injectables. I emphasize on creating a natural result for all of my clients; results that enhance someone’s natural beauty, not taking away from it. I think nowadays in the aesthetic world, a lot of other injectors think bigger is better, but it’s not always the case. It takes skill and an artistic eye to see where you can create balance and provide a seamless, refreshed result. All of my work is on my instagram page @lexxinjects, where you can see beautiful, natural transformations.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I grew up in a single parent home, with my mother and one of my sisters, traveling the world within the military. I was born in Turkey, and then afterwards we moved around to GA, Turkey again, then Florida, then Alabama. I used to hate moving around so much as a child, but now I am grateful because it gave me so many invaluable experiences, as well as learning about other cultures, and broadened my view of the world. It also allowed me to know from a young age that I could do whatever I set my mind to, and gave me a freer mindset about moving, and traveling the globe. I’ve now been able to say I have traveled to over 7 countries, across multiple continents, and am so grateful for each experience.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Early in my journey into aesthetics, I faced multiple rejections before I finally got a yes. It was discouraging, especially since most of what I do now—botox, fillers, aesthetic facial balancing—was not taught in nursing school. I invested in advanced training out of my own pocket, sought out mentors, made connections, and taught myself the nuances of the craft. It took persistence and self-belief just to even get hired in the field.
As an African-American woman, I sometimes would feel isolated—because I saw very few people who looked like me represented in the injectables world. There’s a real stigma in the aesthetic medicine industry, especially around injectables, and there were fewer role models who shared my background. It could have been much easier to stay working bedside at the hospital, comfortably. But pushing past those doubts made it all worth it. Today, I see my journey as a source of strength—one that I carry into each service: not just the technical skill, but the empathy, understanding, and conviction to redefine what beauty can look like, for everyone.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
In today’s beauty culture, trends come and go — but when it comes to injectables, I believe that classic, natural-enhancements never lose their appeal. While many in the cosmetics world chase what’s “in” or overdo treatments in the name of trendiness, I prioritize what’s safest and most true to each individual. Its not one-size-fits-all for injectables.
My aesthetic philosophy is grounded in subtlety and balance. It’s not about making big statements — it’s about making confident, elegant improvements that maintain your natural beauty. In fact, the current industry momentum supports this: there is growing demand for “less is more,” for natural-looking results over exaggerated features, and for enhancements that are “undetectable” rather than overt.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Along with my injectables skills, I think my customers would probably miss my unique laugh, my encouragement, and my kindness. I think I have a gift of being kind and seeing each person as an individual, treating everyone with love and respect.
