An Inspired Chat with Anais Avilez of Plano

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Anais Avilez. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Anais, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
While lots of what I do is public facing, there is so much that no one sees. I’m most proud of building my mental fortitude and courage to stand up for myself and others. I know it may sound cliche, but the reason I am doing what I love is because of the decisions I made to stand up for myself and my peers.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Adieu Anais and I make and write electronic pop music that my dreams have inspired. What makes my music interesting is how I blend my classical foundation with modernity all while writing music quite literally based on impactful dreams and visions I’ve had throughout my life. I’ve spent a lot of time writing and producing an EP (releasing in 2026) based off of a profound dream I had years ago. This dream is my origin story and takes the listener through a sonically dark, ethereal, and at times disorienting, world where I get to the core of what it feels like to lose who you are, rediscover yourself, and relentlessly choose your own destiny.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before I conformed to what was expected of me as a Latina woman, I was a quirky dreamer with a big imagination and bigger dreams. Growing up I wanted to be a ‘mad singing-scientist’, although the scientist part didn’t exactly play out, I reconnected with that inner child when I decided I was no longer going to conform. While I had big dreams as kid and in my early adulthood, it felt as though they faded away once I became absorbed into corporate life. I lost touch with who I was for many years, but I can confidently say that the ‘mad singing scientist’ has returned and has so much to show the world.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
In the summer of 2022 I was at the point of giving up on my dreams. Not long after that, I ended up with a freak health issue that could have cost me my life. It took me a year to recover, and ironically once I decided to not give up on my dreams is when I found the most progress with my health. I knew that if I did not live the life I truly wanted it would be as if I didn’t live at all. I am grateful that I had an incredible support system that helped me believe in myself again.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is the part of myself I’ve actually developed over the years. How I express myself is one of my truest forms. Its who I always wanted to be and how I feel about myself.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If I laid down my name, role, and possessions… I may even take that further, If I let go of everything that I may even remotely identify with, nothing and everything would remain. I believe that when you let go of all identity, creeds, materialism, and other stories that give the illusion of a fixed identity, is when true freedom is experienced. In this place there isn’t emotional or mental weight, or any other conditions that cause suffering, only peace, joy, love, bliss, and raw experience without judgement. At my core, I am someone who loves fiercely and wants to share their light with the world.
