An Inspired Chat with Breakfield and Burkey of Southwest Dallas

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Breakfield and Burkey. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Breakfield and, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
We are still chasing an agent or film company that would take our Enigma Universe of stories and characters to the silver screen.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Breakfield and Burkey have created award-winning stories that resonate with men and women, with a fresh perspective on technology possibilities within a fictional framework. They have two technothriller series, The Enigma Series and Enigma Heirs. They ventured into writing cozy mysteries with the Underground Authors in the Magnolia Bluff Crime Chronicles. Their newest short story collection complements their novella and individual short stories. Their love of children’s imagination prompted them to create the delightful story and activity book The Dream. Reach out directly to Authors@EnigmaSeries.com or visit their website at: https://www.EnigmaSeries.com.

With a blend of fast-paced action, engaging characters, and a touch of heart-wrenching humanity, the Enigma Series as well as the Magnolia Bluff Crime Chronicles, offers a thrilling exploration of the digital frontier as well as crime mysteries in a small town. As technology is the weapon of choice, we use this weapon to tell great stories and deliver memorable characters.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Quite simply, it is the all valuable collateral of trust. It takes years to cultivate but only seconds to shatter.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
For Breakfield, it was the selling of healthy business only to watch it mishandled and destroyed but not before the purchase price was defaulted on. For him that was the new ground zero.

For Burkey, it was being uprooted from friends and family in California and moving to Texas with her new husband. Everything had to be restarted.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
In book publishing, authors always believe that the next book they write will hit it out of the park. Just keep writing and the belief is “I can make it to the big time.”

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Breakfield and Burkey both hope that we will be remembered as honorable people and were consumate storytellers that helped them deal with the digital world we live in today.
