We’re looking forward to introducing you to Charlene Williams. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Charlene, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
I’m learning from my children, my clients, and my peers. My children constantly remind me to see things with fresh eyes, stay patient, and remain curious. My clients teach me new perspectives, challenge me to grow in my craft, and remind me why I love what I do. And my peers inspire me with their creativity and drive, motivating me to keep evolving and getting better every day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the owner of MERAKI Beauty & Skin Bar, where I work as an esthetician and piercer. I focus on holistic skincare and creating cute, curated ear piercings that feel personal and stylish. I also offer body slimming and toning services to help clients look and feel their best.
The name MERAKI means doing something with soul, creativity, or love putting a piece of yourself into your work and that really sums up how I approach everything I do. My space also includes a jeweler who does permanent jewelry and another like-minded esthetician. I love creating a fun, supportive environment where solo artists can grow together and make people feel amazing inside and out.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My husband and my dad have definitely taught me the most about work. They’re two of the hardest working people I know, and I’ve learned so much just by watching how they show up every day, no matter what. Their dedication and drive have really shaped how I approach everything I do. They’ve taught me that hard work isn’t just about hustle it’s about pride, perseverance, and doing things with heart
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think everyone in this industry has moments where they feel like giving up honestly, I feel that way some days too. This line of work isn’t for the faint of heart. There are times when imposter syndrome creeps in or I start doubting if I’m good enough. But what always keeps me going are my clients, who have truly become like friends. I look forward to seeing them every month, catching up, and hearing about what’s going on in their lives. They remind me why I love what I do it’s not just about beauty or skincare, it’s about connection.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
I really rely on the ideas and perspectives of the people around me my clients, my peers, and even my team. Sometimes someone will suggest something small, and it completely shifts how I see things. I think it’s so important to stay open and not get stuck in just my own way of doing things. Listening to others helps me grow, stay inspired, and make sure my space and services always evolve with fresh ideas and creativity.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I give my best every single day, whether I’m being a mom and running my household or being a business owner. It’s not about getting praise.I don’t need that. What matters to me is the self validation that I know I’m giving my all, raising my kids well, taking care of my home, and putting my heart into my business. That’s what truly feels rewarding.
