We recently had the chance to connect with Cheryl Edinbyrd and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cheryl , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
My day begins with early rising, prayers, and sacred rituals alongside my nephew. These moments of connection to spirit and intention set the tone for the day, grounding me and inviting clarity, presence, and alignment with my purpose. I take time for meditation, affirmations, or journaling, listening deeply to guidance and wisdom that arises from within.
Mornings are devoted to nurturing and supporting others. I hold space for prenatal and postpartum mommas, providing counseling, guidance, and care that honors both body and spirit. I meet with therapy clients to support their emotional and spiritual growth, helping them reconnect with their inner strength and resilience. In small but meaningful ways, I also send love and affirmations to my husband, nurturing connection and shared energy in our partnership.
The middle of the day is filled with intentional work from home—managing programs, developing curriculum, and guiding the growth of The Tree of Life Birth Counseling & Wellness Center. I infuse every task with purpose and mindfulness, knowing that even administrative work can be sacred when done with presence and alignment. I check on the progress of our new center, including the parking lot, witnessing each step as part of the manifestation of our vision.
Afternoons invite reflection, creativity, and connection. I balance client care, staff coordination, and program planning while pausing for prayer, breathwork, or meditation to realign with Spirit. Even in busy moments, I seek harmony and inner calm, remembering that the energy I carry influences those around me.
Evenings are sacred, a time to honor connection, reflection, and gratitude. I engage with loved ones, journal, and release the day’s energy in prayer or spiritual practice, preparing to rest with clarity and intention. Each day closes with a mindful pause, holding space for what was accomplished and what is yet to unfold, always guided by purpose, faith, and the sacred mission of service.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! I’m Dr. Cheryl Edinbyrd, founder of The Tree of Life Birth Counseling & Wellness Center. My work is rooted in honoring the sacred journey of birth, parenthood, and personal transformation. We blend holistic care, ancestral wisdom, and spiritual practices to support families in mind, body, and spirit.
What makes our approach unique is our commitment to creating spaces where healing, empowerment, and spiritual connection intersect. Whether through prenatal and postpartum support, therapy, or educational programs, we guide families to feel seen, valued, and supported on every level.
Currently, I’m expanding programs like our virtual doula curriculum and professional workshops to nurture birth workers and families alike. At Tree of Life, we are cultivating a community that embraces resilience, celebrates sacred traditions, and fosters spiritual and emotional wellness for all.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that my worth was tied to my accomplishments and how others perceived me. I felt I had to be perfect, get everything right, and constantly prove myself to be loved and accepted. Now, I no longer believe that. I understand that my value is inherent, that I am enough simply for being me, and that making mistakes or being imperfect doesn’t diminish my worth.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me what success alone could not—the depth of my spirit, the resilience of my soul, and the wisdom to trust life’s flow. Even in pain, there was success: the unfolding of my purpose, the awakening of my intuition, and the deep connection to myself and the divine. In that way, every hardship became a sacred teacher, guiding me toward wholeness and clarity.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies my industry tells itself is that healing is uniform. Spiritually, we know that growth and transformation are unique to each soul—sometimes forward, sometimes back, always in divine timing. True healing honors the individual’s journey and allows space for the unexpected lessons that life and spirit offer
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
I’ve reflected, and I see that every step of my journey has been purposeful. There isn’t anything I would regret, for each experience has guided me toward growth, wisdom, and alignment with my soul’s path.
