An Inspired Chat with Chloe Vela of West Dallas

We recently had the chance to connect with Chloe Vela and have shared our conversation below.

Chloe, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Seeing and hearing my regular customers return time and time again to express their pride in me and the improvements I make each time I visit them—my new custom tent with my logo on it is a great example—is the most recent instance that has made me laugh and feel proud. Hearing the paintballers be so accepting and respectful of me and my business, and considering me to be a staple in Texas Paintball , was another moment that made me feel really proud. I was thrilled to see how everyone was happy for me as I gradually upgraded and saw how much I had grown over the past year.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Chloe Vela, I’m currently 20 years old I’ve been having my business since I was a sophomore in high school . I’ve learned so much from this business from the people I’ve met, to the different experiences , and growing up around the people I’ve surrounded myself with I wouldn’t change it for the world. What sets my business apart from others is attention to detail, quality products, and my passion for what I do. Making my lemonades and baking my desserts with lots of love is what makes it a product of Baked With Love Dallas. I have a lot of exciting things planned for this upcoming year that I can’t wait to share with everyone.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Automatically my minds goes to my parents, they have always put their faith in me to keep going and to go forward with my business and saw the potential I had in myself that I couldn’t see at the time, but they helped me open my eyes and see it too. They really did help push me to become the person I am today and continue to help me become a better version of myself everyday.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
To be kinder to yourself. I think I was my worst critic growing up and I still tend to be but the difference between then and now is that back then I was hard on myself because I felt like a outsider and that no one really understood me for who I was. But now I’m hard on myself because I know I can do better and that I can make my dreams and wishes come true with hard work and dedication.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Having a strong work ethic is something that’s always been a structure in my family and household, and it did help me push myself to do more with my business. Especially with my business now I do realize when you really want something to go for it stronger and harder than anyone else.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
A lot of people assume that my parents do everything for me but that’s not the case. Of course my parents do help me a lot with my business by helping me set up for events and doing supply runs but, when there’s a big rush it’s me than it’s juggling being a cashier, making drinks, and greeting all the customers at once. But I wouldn’t change it for a thing because in the end I do it because I love it.
