An Inspired Chat with Daymond Patterson of Dallas/Forney

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Daymond Patterson. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Daymond, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I love playing the game of golf. It’s something that challenges me to think, be patient and enjoy my time away from work. Golf is a sport where it’s only you verse the course. Nobody can stop you from doing what you need to do and you can’t stop anybody else. All you can do is play your game and lock in on that for 18 holes.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Daymond Patterson II. I am the owner of TRPT. I have been building my business since 2013. My dad used to train athletes when I was young and after I got done playing college football, I decided to not only take over what he did but expand on his vision. We went from training a couple of athletes throughout the year and the summer camp to now training hundreds of athletes a week year-round. We are one stop shop where athletes can come to get better at any sport and any skill. TRPT is very family oriented, and we want to always create a welcoming environment for not only the athletes, but their families as well.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad taught me the most about work just from seeing the way that he went about grinding. He used to get up really early to go lift and hit the gym, head straight in to the office as a police officer and immediately get off of work and either came to our football practice or took us to train. Seeing him always on the goal and grinding definitely shaped how I move today.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would simply tell myself that all of the hard times, struggles, failures, and things that didn’t go my way would be some of the most pivotal things that built you into who you are today. Embrace the things that make life tough because one day the tough things you went through will make life a lot easier.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends and family would say that they matter to me the most. Everybody knows I’m huge on family and close relationships. We all need people in our circle that we can count on and trust when times get hard as as well as when the good times are rolling.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I were to retire tomorrow, I believe my clients would miss the relationships that we built as well as the interactions that we have while doing our work. I truly try to make every session as fun and as productive as possible.
